From what I can tell you have to have a pic rail to mount the Atlas bipod to your rifle. I was just curious if there is any way to mount it to a 'regular' rifle that has a sling swivel stud like you can with a Harris. If there isn't I hereby advise Kasey to figure out a way, there are a lot of us guys with 'regular' rifles, and many of us currently use Harris bipods, but would change to an Atlas more readily if it was apparent that it could attach to these rifles that only have a sling swivel stud on the bottom of them.

No swivel stud mounting the Atlas...sorry.
Try running a search for this topic and you'll uncover several different threads re: how to address the issue on more "traditional" rifles where going all out with drilling more holes, etc. isn't an option or would otherwise present major problems. That said, the best practice for mounting an Atlas to any rifle is to properly mount a two-screw/bolt rail to the rifle. B&T/Accu-Shot makes a couple variants of their rails, as do Badger, Seekins, etc. that will give you the same basic setup (with nearly identical installation requirements use the existing swivel stud location, as well as one newly drilled hole to mount up the new rail...that's an oversimplification, but you get the idea).
Using one of the damned stud-to-rail adapters is really not a great idea as they are generally garbage products in my experience with them. No reason to start getting cheap after buying a $200+ bipod and then attaching it to the rifle with the cheapest POS you can get to "make it work." The attachment point to the rifle can be subjected to a fair amount of stress/strain depending on how you'll be running your bipod and how heavy a rifle it'll be supporting/getting torqued up to, etc. One of the crappy Blackhawk/Weaver stud-to-rail adapters may well cause you issues if subjected to too much use/abuse in the long run. If you MUST use one of the adapters, for heaven's sake DO NOT buy the damned $32 Blackhawk one you'll see referenced in several threads floating around, but instead get the Weaver one (roughly 1/2 to 1/3 the price of the Blackhawk at only $11-15, but the same product in Weaver packaging without the Hike for Blackhawk's advertising/PR budget built in).

P.S. - For my rifles where changing out to a rail with a proper mount isn't an option, I'm still running the Harris bipods as much as I'd love to have my Atlas bipods instead. I'd just rather run the Harris than to risk using one of the garbage stud-to-rail adapters if that tells you anything about how I found their quality/design to be lacking for my personal needs.

Thanks for the intel guys, this confirmed what I thought. I still think Atlas would be well served to figure out a design that would allow mounting as a Harris. I have ordered both the rail kit and a Atlas with the QD lever mount. I now have to decide which rifle to rig it to. I also have a TRG, what can you guys tell me about mounting an Atlas to a TRG?

I just finished installing my Atlas BT17 rail onto my Manners stock. The ease of this installation was all due to you!!! You get major kudos for getting me the link to the appropriate website where I purchased the correct bit and pilot. I have NEVER had an easier job than what I just did now. It was so easy, I even had time to play with the rifle prior to having to get back inside to eat dinner.
Thank you for that link and sharing how to properly install the rail. The funny thing it, the original sling swivel stud mount used the exact same hardware and installation process as the folks at GA Precision. You were dead on with your suggestion.
To the original poster, replace the stud with the rail. You will not regret it!
I have used this setup to mount a Atlas bipod on both a 10/22 ruger with a hogue stock and I also used it on a Savage Precision Carbine. Its not ideal but it does work, if you plan on keeping it on for a while I would recommend loctiting the screws as they do seem to work loose. I wouldn't do it on any rifle that is going to see some real action.

Funny, I just now got finished using the Blackhawk stud adapter. It seems to be a very solid fit, but I'm sure drilling another hole would be the best method. They have worked well for me, but I'm not battle hard on my equipment. Just my .02.
Nevada, thanks for the link, problem I see with the adapter is it prohibits folding the legs back at all. I was hoping for something more elegant for my TRG...I've ordered the Blackhawk swivel to rail adapter, and another one I can't recall the name of--I'll see how they work, I've got a sling stud on my TRG Here's the other one:

I too just posted about this in this forum. I need to add one to my Manners but I have flush cups and QD studs which will not work with the Blackhawk mount. They are too tall and will not let the mount draw up tight to the stock. I am in the process of doing what was mentioned above. Thanks to NZ and his post to my thread earlier today. I did use the mount on the accustock for the hell of it (why let it go to waste) and it fits great.
This is seriously a 5 minute install. The best way is the way explained above but if you need something quick and have swivel studs, its a quick remedy.
You simply slide the insert overt he swivel stud, push the pin though the holes in the insert and the swivel stud and then slide the rail over the insert and install the screws. Its quick. Pretty straight forward, so much that they don't put instructions in the box. Cost is about 20 bucks from amazon.

I have the BT21 for my TRG and IMO it works very well. The legs do fold back to around 45 degrees which does not limit my usage but does require a forward storage position.
