I get ill when people attempt to shit on the capitalistic component of our healthcare system, saying it doesn't work and that it should be socialized entirely, like europe or our canadian neighbors. They are usually people who get their information from people like Michael Moore. First off, the amount of free healthcare given to underinsured, and especially fucking illegals is staggering. Second, canada isn't nearly as generous, as I will point out in a story my school roommate just told me over the weekend:

He was in Montreal with his pregnant wife, who also has been gimping around on a fucked up ankle. She got some kind of food borne illness, and started puking her guts up all night, and into the next morning. At this point, she cannot stomach even water, and was dangerously dehydrated, which is a risk for the pregnancy as well. He takes her into a hospital, and they get access and admin about 3 L of D5 0.5NS. He gets called to the accounting department and is met by some persistent woman (english is their 2nd language in Montreal for yous who don't know btw). She is trying her best to get him to sign a document which is a promissory note of payment, whether his insurance would cover the visit or not. Turns out they won't accept his insurance unless they can guarantee payment. So he calls his insurance, and pretty much gets nowhere. They could only cover any piece of the visit if she was admitted. Now the woman is still waving this paper at him, trying to get him to sign it, and he keeps stalling her, giving her false SSNs, birth dates, and so forth. Turns out, they wanted fucking $22,000 for this visit!!! He went into the room, got his wife, and got the fuck out of there. He is likely gonna get billed some exorbitant amount for the IV, but shouldn't be anywhere near 22K.

So if anyone starts telling you about how generous and great the canadian system is, tell them to suck a big fat dick. Then if they tell you, "well it works great if you are a Canadian citizen", tell them to eat a whole bowl of dicks.

Yeah of my buddies mom's had pancreatic cancer, they told her she was going to die in a few months, nothing we can do.... She was a perfect candidate for one of the procedure down here that they had been doing for a few years. They said it was too expensive to do it there and it wasn't approved, even though the docs down here had been doing them for years. She has been cancer free for like 8 years now. Full blown American now.

my sister just got back from 2 years in europe......Socialized healthcare is great........until you actually need to use it.

she had an issue where she had some ear pain.....she went to the doctor, they gave her ibuprofen and turner her away....didnt even look at the ear.....well no surprise, that didnt work.....she went back, and someone (she wasnt convinced he was actually a doctor) looked at her ear and "didnt see anything".....again, sent her on her way with ibuprofen.......she went back again (whole ordeal was over a month) and made them do an actual exam........turns out she had a sever ear infection.

yeah its great, everyone gets "free" healthcare........but the quality of healthcare is absolute shit.

Another friend of mine, off the boat Russian, also a physician was in Russia with his son for a hockey tournament. The kid broke his arm pretty good. They took him to a hospital in Sochi, and the kid sat in there for several days, no pain medication, a crude shitty X-ray, and a diagnosis. They were not even equipped to set the arm and cast it. He flew back home and within a day, the kid was in orthopedic surgery and got the arm fixed.

My friend is a Canadian who used to winter here with his wife but go back to Canada every summer so they could keep their healthcare. He's very conservative and no fan of their healthcare system, but it's what they have. His wife developed a sarcoid in one of her lungs and needed a lobectomy. Rather than go back to Canada and wait for 6-8 months to have it done for "free", he chose to pay cash out of his pocket and have her surgery done here. His reasons were related to better-quality care and short wait. He was able to negotiate a good deal on a cash-only basis through the help of some other doctors who were also friends of his. I think it cost him about 35-40K out of his pocket, but it was worth it to him to avoid the "free" care he had back home in Canada.

op , really, so you think that just because your an American you can cash in on our health care? If that were the case we'd be over run with americans coming up here for health care. If I were to go to the US and show up at the hospital, how long do you think it would be before I got drug into the finance department?

Never dumb dumb. We pay for all illegal immigrant health care here.

BTW. Fuck your socialist health care system.

Many foreign people are confused by the US Health Care..... When you hear the details about the UK Health Care, well many of our parents would die in the UK as services are not offered to older folks.... services that are offered in the US

    - OP- Great reason to understand buying travel insurance that covers illness and return flights if needed on travel

    who said anything about illegals?

I think the point being made is that the US can pay for emergency healthcare for non citizens. It falls under emergency medicaid,

    http://www.mymedicare.com/medicaid/emergency-medicaid/

In that link you will note that citizenship is not required.

A lot of births from illegal immigrants are paid for that way. I can tell you that in South Carolina 50% of all births every year are paid for by Medicaid.

Sweden is going through similar, extreme taxes and having dwindling access to health care proving welfare states don't work, the latest casualty being maternity care: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...ng-to-happen-to-sweden-s-fabled-welfare-state

For a different perspective, while on vacation in Italy last year my girlfriend rolled her ankle hard, immediately thought it for sure it was broken so I dial for an ambulance. They take her to the hospital a couple towns away where they have an x-ray, I catch up to her when they're bringing her out of radiology, luckily just a bad sprain (and later found it to be a torn ATFL that required surgery), they put her in a half cast, give her some meds to prevent clotting and send us to discharge. She has international medical coverage from her job that covers 100% of any overseas care, so we're not too worried until the clerk who really doesn't speak English tells me they can't accept our insurance and we need to pay a whole lot of words in Italian that I don't understand right now and we can get our money back from the insurance company. So we're thinking we're in for it, going to max out the credit card paying this bill and the vacation is thoroughly ruined, so I ask her to write down how much it is to understand. €72 and change is all it was, about $85 in real money for ambulance, x-ray, radiologist evaluation, half cast, and meds. Of course, I promptly whipped out the bank card and we never even bothered claiming it back to the insurance company.

I have no idea what Italy's medical system is, but damn was that the cheapest trip to the doctor I've ever seen.

Jesus you really missed the point of my post. Homie, read the title:

    1. the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform; pretense.

The point is, your country is flooded with pot smoking obsessive PC pseudo hippies, i.e. that bitch Trudeau, who indulge in sanctimony when speaking of the US in terms of healthcare and immigration. In addition, we have fucks like Michael Moore, who incessantly compare our healthcare system to the "perfect" systems in fucking scandinavia and canuckstan. One of the criticisms is how we charge people a premium for coverage here, while in these cotton candy paradises, they do not. They claim that we let poor people and illegal fucks die here when in fact that couldn't be further from the truth. They get everything for free with zero fucking recourse, then I, the sucker walk into an ER with a real fucking emergency, and get fucking fleeced for 10k because some scumbag piece of shit illegal brought his whole family to the ER for a checkup and fucking sore throat. I and people like me are the ones who get fucked in our own country, not the fucks whom should be tossed out.

So in candyland canada, the way people speak of an ideal healthcare system where everyone is covered compared to the evil US, you would think they would set an unrealistic idealistic example, but yet they do not. As a matter of fact, let's switch gears here and talk about open borders and NAFTA. That fuck Trudeau criticizes us about being racist and shit because of immigration policy. I have a great idea. Instead of deporting them back to Mexico, let's send them on a canadian provided bus up to toronto. You guys have plenty of room up there. Stop being so self centered and share what you have you racists. See, it's all fun and games until it is in your backyard.

You can’t explain rational thought to the willfully ignorant.

Not cashing in, it would be nice not to be given a royal fucking every time we visit your country and emergencies happen, pretending that Canada is not nearly entirely dependent on the US, especially considering we've been dragging your ass and carrying your weight for the past ~200 years. What OP is saying is, your country isn't as great as it can appear and communist policies have their fallacies.

Not saying we don't appreciate Canada; someone has to go around and apologize to everyone after the action. "Snow Mexicans".
