Care package for deployed soldiers

OK. I have some friends deployed to Djibouti in Africa. We're sending out a care package for them and I am trying to think of stuf they'll really need and use. My hubby says porn and Gold Bond powder. But I need serious suggestions on what the boys will need, can really use, and will make a difference to them. Thanks in advance!

When my buddy was in Iraq and A-stan I always sent him chew, Pittsburgh or italian stuff(make him think of home) and toiletries(spelling?). When in Iraq I also sent him a ton of chemical cold packs to keep around his neck when he was on patrol and he said that they were a nice refreshing change, kinda like a mini personal air conditioner.

Baby wipes, chew/dip and magazines. My wife and I sent a case a Girl Scout cookies one year and I understand they were a big hit.

Freshly laundered new socks, biker magazines, Copenhagen old fashioned cut(the old school worm dirt stuff)in great old American cardboard/metal containers are all highly sought after. Hand heaters, and foot heaters(they are different but work the same) in the disposable packet form are great during the winter. Also anything home made is the best. Good dark roasted coffee that is ground already is always good to get over there. Oh, good truffles for Christmas, they cannot be beat!

My sister is a kindergarten teacher and she had all the kids in the school draw pictures and try to write letters to my brother-n-law's unit and to the others serving at his location. I think it will put a big smile on everyone's face and help moral this holiday season.

Not trying to be rude, but we have so many of the, "What do I send in a care-package?" threads, don't you think we could make just one and sticky it?

Porn, tobacco, baby wipes, and socks. And then more porn. If there is any room after all the porn, then items such as drink mixes, cookies, snacks, etc., will be appropriate. Tobacco and Porn should be the highest priority though.

DISCLAIMER: Im assuming since they are in Africa, there Marines on a MEU. I'm also assuming they are grunts.

We put packages together at our VFW post all the time. And we try to send even more at X-Mas. We get a lot of letters back from deployed soldiers about what they liked in the packages we sent them. We never have received a complaint in what we put in the packages. However the one item we got the most favorable letters back on was a bunch of Yo-Yo's we sent a couple years ago. A local Dollar Store donated a bunch of left over Yo-Yo's and we put one in each package. The guys realy liked them for some reason.

I made my donation this year in dollars because the USPS charges us a good bit for the Flat Rate boxes. And I made a donation to the Wounded Warriors. I got that one from the O'Reilly show. I figure he has vetted the charities pretty well. So I trust him, and donated to the one he recommended. Those donations were every one's X-Mas present this year, and nobody had a problem with that. Even the kids understoood. But then my brother is a Marine. So they understand. Only gift I bought was for my mother. But I am gonna sneak a couple in for the kids!! Tom.
