I've used CCI BR-2 Benchrest primers for a long time. Recently, I have been told by the LGS that CCI has changed the name of this product. The story now goes, alllegedly, that benchrest primers no longer say "Benchrest" on the box. They simply say " Large Rifle BR-2" Has anyone else heard this?

I'm using the "Large Rifle BR-2" primers right now in a 260 and I'm getting some really low velocities. Low as in 150-200 fps lower than when I was shooting known Benchrest primers.

Their P/N has always been "BR-2" as far as I know. I haven't heard anything about changing the actual product itself, but nobody ever consults with me on these matters:). I don't believe anything has changed besides the large print on the packaging. I've been told in the past that "match" primers are the same composition as std primers, the only difference is that the first batch of primers in a production run that are run when the machinery is freshly set up and calibrated & operated by the manufacturers most experienced machine operators are considered match grade. The later batches are considered to be "standard" primers.

This originally came to me from a gentleman who represented himself as a current member of Federal primer manufacturing team, and it sounds plausible to me. He seemed to be really knowledgeable about all things related to primer in a long arduous thread some years back.
