Gunsmithing CDI Precision Savage DBM feeler...

Re: CDI Precision Savage DBM feeler...

Guys, since we had plenty of interest you can just give Jeff a ring and order your DBM when you like. We just needed a sufficient amount of orders up front for him to justify the time & material to do them. These should be a normal order item from CDI Precision from here on out.

Luvman, these are going to use the AICS mags, don't think the AW mags would work without serious modification to the rifle... I'll double check on that and let you know though.

Re: CDI Precision Savage DBM feeler...

Kilo, we haven't discussed doing one for the long actions yet. I can ask Jeff about it next time I talk to him, or you can drop him a PM on here and see what he says. Pretty sure he'd like to have a quantity of 10 or better like we did on the short action DBMs... never know until you ask though!

Thanks,
Gregg

Re: CDI Precision Savage DBM feeler...

I was curious about the AW mags because savage originally had double stacked internal mags. It'd be sweet if it were relatively simple to get AW mags to work. Either way there is a CDI DBM in my rifle's future!

Re: CDI Precision Savage DBM feeler...

Hi Guys. Final prototype is done and works perfect. I will go into production this upcoming weekend and have parts within 2 weeks(anodizing takes about a week). The one I have done is the Center feed newer model, (4.40 Bolt Spacing). I will work this week on the stagger feed model. IT will be similar just a few tweeks. Using AI-AW mags is something I will look into. Tried it on the FN-SPR, but the action requires too much cutting. This may be a bit different.

The pic if the stock shows slight additional trimming the stock requires. It is easy and minimal to make it fit..

Here's some pics:)

Re: CDI Precision Savage DBM feeler...

That looks awesome Jeff. totally worth the wait to me! Is that a 5 rd mag in the pic? If so a 10 rounder will make the latch look more proportionate... I'd leave it long for the guys running the 10 round mags. Looking forward to the staggerfeed models & the 223 mags!!!

Re: CDI Precision Savage DBM feeler...

Excuse my manners, the only thing I said was the tab looked too long to me, and forgot to say how bad ass the dbm looks. Makes me want to buy a Savage just to try one out. Good job!

Just kidding, nice work Jeff and I am impatiently waiting for mine. Thanks for doing this. </div></div>

yep, This started out as a staggered feed build and was sold to me as such with center feed to come later

How it went from a staggered feed build to center feed I have no idea.

They do look good though!

Re: CDI Precision Savage DBM feeler...

What is the pricing on one of these? Will it work in the HS Precision stock without inletting? Where do you get the magzines that work in it?

Seriously.. take a few minutes to actually read the thread... or even just the first post.

Re: CDI Precision Savage DBM feeler...

I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you read the first post and just don't know what 'AI' means...

AI = Accuracy International -- AI mags are what most of the after-market DBM setup are using these days (badger, surgeon, CDI, etc). Even Seekins, who designed his own mag due to shortages of AI mags at the time he designed his DBM system is coming out with an AI mag version now that they are available again.

But yes, basically gives you a heavy duty trigger guard/detachable mag setup that uses AI mags.

It uses Thompson 50 round drums.

Wouldn't AR mags be cheaper? Given they would lock into place differently...

Re: CDI Precision Savage DBM feeler...

I think mine is the same as 858's. It is an A3 with the blind mag. Has one pillar on the front mount bolt.

Can you inlet my blind mag stock with pillar to work as your example?

It's got the accu-trigger so I'm pretty sure mine is the center feed.

Re: CDI Precision Savage DBM feeler...

Jeff, did you start the DBM project with an A5 all ready inletted for a Savage detachable mag setup? The blind mag A5 that I have, has a front pillar and a brass nut-sert at the rear for the trigger guard.
