Gunsmithing Cerakote multicam

Well I will chime in. It looks ok. I would say that it does not look like true multicam. It appears to be done with stencils. With that said, IMHO( no I am not an airbrush artist nor do I paint other than rattle cans and sponges) I think that they could have faded the lines better with shadowing and could possibly blend the color shifts better and or use other variations of the colors chosen to fade better.
I like the rifle, but personally would be a little upset if I paid good money to have Multicam done and got that as a result.
I think we are spoiled by being members here having the ability to see the talents of the very skilled painters ( Shortbus, 30calsniper, and others)we have posting the works of art here. If you are happy with it that is all that matters. If you are not than I would suggest getting in touch with the above mentioned masters and have them fix it for you.

Nice way to piss on a guys pride and joy. Did you happen to get beat up much in kindergarten? I think it is a pretty nice job.
OP asked for an honest opinion which tells me he had doubts about the quality. The person gave an honest and IMO spot on opinion. I don't see the issue.
I'm not sure if I like it or not, better send it to me so I can have a better look. I'll return it when all the paint is gone. Looks better than I could do.
It looks good. Multicam has a gradient in the pattern and it is very difficult to mimic. If you want anything Hydro-dipped in Multicam, etc, get a hold of Mike Cole at Oregon Hydrographics. He does work for several manufacturers.
From every thing I have ever read multicam is REALLY hard to get exactly with any kind of paint. Seems like hydro dipping is the only way to get it exact! However, I have seen some jobs here on the hide that look VERY close, but the price tag is also more than you spent I am sure. So to answer your question no it doesn't look exactly like multicam. But I do still think it looks good and would have it on my rig and be proud of it! Great job, I love to see people here do thing by themselves! Awesome rig!

It looks good to me, way better than I could do. If your happy with it, that's all that matters!
Thank you guys for the input, I know its not a true multicam. My airbrush skills lack in that dept. It would look about like a 3 year old trying to color and stay within the lines. Hydro dipping would be perfect, not as durable but would come out a true multicam. I know Shortbus & 30calsniper are very good at what they do. To get a true multicam I would think it would all have to be freehand? Please keep the input coming, positive or negative lets hear it.

I didn't think you could use Cerakote that way.
Of course, it is not a reproduction of Crye's Multicam pattern, but I think it turned out very nicely.

I think you did a great job on it and I don't see anyone else backing there coments with pics.......
Your hydro dipping them then putting a cerakote clear coat over it? I have heard of people doing it but never seen any pics of how it has turned out.

Its a pain to paint I think it looks pretty good. I just did one for my buddy with 6 colors. Too much work Ill tell ya that.
I stand corrected. For a home job it looks very nice, I thought you paid to have a true multicam coating done. I would roll with it.
I've been looking for a Sage chassis in FDE for awhile now to stick a Springfield National Match in. 
Personally, i'm on the fence on the whole multicaming everything...I'm starting to see it everywhere, so it's losing its sex appeal. lol

I got mine from US Tactical Supply in Multicam.

We've done several hydro dipped stocks in Cerakote clear, comes out pretty good! Not a bad job on the Cerakote though! A little fading wouldn't hurt but hell it'll blend in just fine.
I don't care what anyone says, it looks damn good OP. Mine would end up looking like I dropped it off at a preschool on finger-painting day.
Personally, I like it. I would run it until the finish is beat to hell then decide if I changed it or leave it the same. It's a gun for christs sake, it's gonna get scratched, gouged, beat to piss. Paint jobs no matter how pretty won't make the gun shoot any better.
Why do people waste time worrying if it's true multi cam? All any camo or pattern is meant to to is brake up the outline of your weapon. Unless your hunting or sneaking around to shoot people in the face it's all money poorly spent. That being said it may not be perfect but yes it would do the job it's intended for and do it well.
