Movie Theater Chariots of the Gods

Re: Chariots of the Gods

If thats the one by Eric von Danieken, yeah,I have read it and maybe 2 others of his.
Heard the author interviewed on coastocoastam not a very long time ago...
Zecharia Sitchin is another author you may find intersting if you liked Chariots of the Gods.

My reading dates me,way long before the internet.
Spent a lot of Saturdays going around town to the used book stores ....

Re: Chariots of the Gods

I got it after reading "an interview with an alien".

I've seen Danieken on Ancient Aliens and he always ASKS if this could be possible - that's what I like about him.

Think outside the box!

Re: Chariots of the Gods

Von Daniken did time for fraud soon after this.

From what I've read his interpretations of the archeological artefacts he was dealing with are highly subjective and way off the mark.

Tends to lend itself more to un provable conspiracy theories than to anything testable.

HIs comparison between a Mayan stone relief and an Apollo command module are a classic case in point. Unless the supposed humanoid aliens spent God knows how many years in transit from the nearest star system in a tiny box this looks entirely unlikely. Also it assumes that an advanced alien society would be using 1960's technology...

Further reading recommended:

Frank Drakes book (can't remember the name)

Cosmos by Carl Sagan.

From my reading the earth is pretty well quarantined by the distances involved and the speed of light. You'd need extremely advanced technology, a really good reason to visit and a few hundred thousand years to do the trip.

cheers

Artic, honestly, don't waste a minute of your time. Daniken was (is) a fraud. Clever, but ultimately easily proven wrong.

But...if this is your fancy, there is another author, much more controversial for all the right reasons.

Rather read from the works of this gentlemen:

Hancock is much more impressive and engaging. Start with Fingerprints of the Gods. Worth buying for the photos and drawings alone.

Its a fun and very intriguing work by an interesting person.

Just remember, the real stuff is much more interesting!
