Am I correct in saying that McMillan does not cut out a bolt removal space in the cheekpiece of their stocks. I've noticed it done on some Manners stocks. Could someone fill me in? as well , what adjustment type cheekpiece do most prefer from McM, ie saddle, thumbwheel,..etc. Thanks

Re: Cheek piece / bolt cut out.

My McMillan A4 saddle-type cheekpiece does have relief cut to allow for the bolt's operation. It is on a Remington long action. Its not needed if you are using a short action.

As who cut the notch, either McMillan or the smith, I don't know.

Our saddle cheek pieces come "cut-out" for your bolt to cycle. We make the cuts in the cheek pieces (integral & thumbwheel) here at the shop so you can cycle the bolt.
