I have been doing a Primal type of diet for a couple of months with excellent results, I try to consume “good fats” from grass feed animals however that is not always possible to obtain. While I prefer to get nutrients from a natural source I began using a supplement “CLA with Tonalin, “conjugated linoleic acid” to enhance or make of for the use of non grass feed meats.
The person (dietary consultant) guiding me thru this pointed of to me that I might be doing myself a disservice by taking a CLA supplement and pointed me to some thoughts on the subject at Marks daily Apple site www.marksdailyapple.com/cla-supplements/#axzz1oueyZn82 in which he points out some evidence that some CLA supplements might raise LDL and lower HDL but lease the door open
“The right CLA supplement employing the right isomers in grass-fed ruminant-fat proportions could be helpful, but after taking an admittedly brief look at the top CLA supplements results on Amazon, I couldn’t point you toward any that fit that description. They may exist. Heck, they probably do exist, but it’s not obvious. I think you’d be better served simply eating grass-fed animal products: butter, cheese, and meat with fat intact.”
Anyone have some additional information should it be taken or which CLA supplement (I was taking 3 grams a day CLA with Tonalin). I see JJJones75 takes a supplement and given that he is well informed and has access to professional resources there must be something out there. Any information if or which CLA supplement to take.
