Hired May of 17. Should be off her probationary period. lol, i sed period. Anywho, those pesky Policies and Procedures caught up with her. Don't like what happened but they're well within their rights to terminate. Just say'n.

I don't understand, a police officer shot a guy for smoking too close to a Starbucks around here and the union had his back.
Another police officer had posts on social media saying he would shoot people doing open carry and the union had his back.
She sells clothes for a not white nationalist group that the media likes to call white nationalist and she gets fired.
One of these is not like the others.
I know it's Clark County compared to California but if police unions will support those two assholes, they should be able to clean this up.

I just ponder if anyone has done a study on how many people get fired for their twitter activity? Why our society has turned into a bunch of narcissistic men and women that have to put there every waking moment out for others to judge is beyond me. When you do that you can suffer the consequences for your actions. Count me out on that! I don't have Facebook, twitter, whatsapp nor any other Social-Media outlets other than what I am typing in here right now. And even then I am careful of what I say.
Pondered this many times. All the time, actually. Everyone knows well how much I enjoy sharing pics of things. I like to do it and I like very much to see other peoples AO's and share what they're doing. I guess it's kinda 'my' FB or Twitter here in a way. This is the only spot I B.S. and hangout. But many have a shit ton of accounts and can't wait to literally live on each and every one of them. I kinda get it, but then I don't. This place to me is unique. 99% damn good like minded people and enjoy sharing time here and in private with many. Have seen people I know suffer from their own hands on the net and a few that have paid with their jobs. Never thought about the narcissistic angle, but now that ya brought it up, I actually do. The way I see it, if you're gonna put shit out there, before ya hit 'send', ask yourself. Is this something that I'd be willing to send to my Wife, my Boss, LEO, Fish and Game, yada yada. If you answer no to any of them, ya, you probably shouldn't.

Just like the Military you know right off the bat you're giving up some freedoms when ya sign up. Same in Law Enforcement, including Jailers, Guards, Screws, whatever. You have Policies and Procedures you have to sign off on. You then have (for me), the Sheriff's Policies. Then the Counties that the Commissioner's put out. You get it from many angles on how you will behave while employed on or off duty. And oh yes they can can your butt for violating any of them. It's even easier if you're still on probation because that's written in as well. You can be released for shits n giggles if you're still on probation. After probation it's for cause. And cause is violating a Policy that has been set and you signed off on it that you knew it, understood it, and will abide by it and if ya don't you go bye bye. And ain't nuth'n gonna save your happy ass without a lot of money and a damn good labor lawyer, and even then good luck.
Don't get caught up in the Apples n Oranges thingy here. I know, I know, but what about the FOP and the Teamsters and the Police Union standing behind (fill in the blank) for doing (fill in the blank) ? I'm not able to properly break that down at this time. But yes. Some get backing, others not so much. Still doesn't mean ya get to keep your job. Literally case by case.

Well, I'm not a lawyer, but after reading the article in the OP, and taking it for fact at face value (just for arguments sake), I don't think any LEO who understands their role in society should be wearing stuff like that. Now maybe that's not a fireable offense, but some counseling would be in order for sure.

The Proud Boys role in society is to protect people who are being attacked while practicing free speech.
And some of the "White Nationalist" groups are just people who think it isn't so great when Muslim "refugees" go in to a place like Paris and create no-go zones, grooming gangs, female genital mutilation, acid attacks and terrorism.
It's not white nationalist, just unpopular (to the left) opinions based upon unspoken truths.
If you can get fired for putting that on a sweatshirt and selling it, they better be firing anyone that sells anything or else their policy is just a leftist smear job.
I must really be out of the know but I've never heard of the group. Until I clicked the link I thought we had a male deputy wearing a shirt that supported some pedo group.

The irony is that the Proud Boys organization was created by a founder of Vice Media... a crackpot group (losing a ton of hollywood Venture Capital) whose media empire is promoting drug use, alternative lifestyles, ANTIFA, BLM, etc.
So Vice creates a 'white supremacist' organization. People join it. They get outed and destroyed. And the people at ANTIFA and Vice Media get to say "Look... we have white supremacists in our midst... we must riot, burn things and do VICE tv shows about the injustice.
Seems like they are running a pretty good trap...
IMHO, Vice is currently in 'money losing' mode because they are working on being the 'go-to' place for advertisers after legalization... they are counting on being "Altered-States" TV... and raking in the money. Right now, it's losing. But they stand to gain if they are the go-to-place for the recreational pharmaceuticals/ANTIFA/Democratic Socialist/Tide Pod generation....

Did you read the part of my post where I said I was taking the truth of the article at face value FOR ARGUMENTS SAKE. If that article is true, then what you wrote is false. If what you wrote is true, then that would change the perception of the incident. I'm not arguing for or against this group, as I know nothing about them. But if the article's statements about the group are true, then any LEO should know better then to associate with a group like that. That was my only point.
I figured when you guys were off work, and not representing the county or anything, that you could do anything you wanted. Usually the police are less restrictive than the military. It used to be that way you know. Before employers got interested in what you were doing in your off time.
I saw the Wikipedia page and I guess I still don't get it. It just looks like a non-issue. The only ones that seem to relate it to white supremacism appear to be the ones that disagree with their political views.
I've seen some shit in the army though, and nobody cared as long as the army wasn't being represented and they did it on their spare time.
I know Brother, I know. For the record I have no idea who the hell they are either. Hardly even care. I've got other things to worry about. But what I know is this is clearly spelled out, and I mean CLEARLY that "The Department" will not tolerate you bringing in "ANY" way bad light upon them. On duty, off duty, same same GI. And just like the Military we all signed up for "The Program" knowing we shall conform to their ways or be outed.
Whether she fights for her job back and succeeds isn't my point. My point on even entering this thread was nothing more than "They Are Well Within Their Right To Terminate". That stands on it's own. Like it or not, and I don't, that's the way it is. Now imagine she does fight and wins her job back. I've worked with 2 people that went that route. Both thought they could deal with what inevitably would be coming their way. Neither made it a year and a half before they cut and ran. I wouldn't subject myself to a hostile work environment that I couldn't prove I'll tell ya that. But ya know it exists. I'd take my game elsewhere and begin again. You can stand and fight, but remember, sometimes there's a heavy price to prove yourself right. I see that for a living play out in Court damn near weekly.
LE is not a job. It is a lifestyle. 24 x 7. There is no room for behavior that will be brought up in court... and will make it impossible for a SA to prosecute your cases. You are under the magnifying glass all the time. Your personal cell phone... is subponeable... Your posts. Photos of you wearing stuff.... Your H.S. Yearbook. There is no depth that a defense attorney won't sink to.... to impugn an officer... in order to get their guilty-as-hell client off by sliding them through the eye-of-the-cesspool-needle of reasonable doubt... and casting aspersions on the prosecution.
Anything that an officer does in their career or life that may make a DA/SA say "I won't touch your cases..." is dismissal. Instant dismissal. Because anything you bring to court is, by definition, tainted by your inherent... racism, sexism, nationalism, whatever-ism.
Military has a high bar for commissioned officers. For enlisted... not the same. But, again, there is a bar. Piss on dead sand-you-know-what's... and your life is over. Just ask a very respected 'Hide member who caught the wrath. His book is great.
Anyhoo.... that's the reality.

This was the point I was getting at, but nowhere near as well stated.....she put herself in this position, regardless of her true feelings or views of white supremacy. Perception is reality when it comes to modern media and what can be brought to bear on your character while you are under oath in front of 12 people too stupid to get out of jury duty.
