I'm looking for a mild solution. I run Sweets when I need to do a thorough cleaning, but would like some ideas for carbon only.

For total cleaning I use Boretech Eliminator.
All the Boretech stuff is... AWESOME.

Bore-Tec, Pro-Shot, Mil-Tec, M-Pro7, Hoppes, etc
There is another post in here about red patches. Go look at that post. About half way down there is a post I made with a link about several solvents. Fairly detailed column, give it a look. Might help you out.

Does anyone like the Otis O85 Ultra Bore Solvent ? I am currently applying a few drops on a Bore Snake in front of the brass brushes and sending through the bore a few times.

^get yourself a bore guide and a one piece rod. also i been told to only use patches, and if really necessary, a nylon brush once in a while. i'm not familiar with that solvent so i can't comment as to that.

slip 2000 work great and goes a long way, can usualy clean my .308 with less than 10 patches and that is after about 450 rds.

I've used KG-1 and MPro7 Gel. Both remove a lot of carbon and a little bit of copper. Don't over think this. There are a billion different solvents and everyone has their favorite. Just about all of them will get the job done.
