Maybe read the Secretaty of the Navy's statement I posted. Apply critical thinking to encrypted communications. I won't hold lack of military experience against you. I know "the bad orange man", but I think you're smarter than that.
Lack of military experience? Where did you farm that assumption?
I read the statement. He sent the letter over unsecured email, solid infosec/opsec violation if the information was to a level warranting security. Ain’t the first, or last, time someone sent the wrong shit with the wrong creds. We don’t know who the 30 addressees were. Many seem to be jumping to the conclusion that he emailed it directly to the press based on the “outside chain of command” statement. The recipients are not yet defined, just a bunch of assumptions in this haven for conspiracy theories, is my point. His violation could just be that he inadvertently sent secret or higher traffic over the unsecured network. Could be the “violation” they used for him sending the email to every swinging dick up to, and including SECDEF and commanders of them Pacific fleet subordinates outside his own 7th fleet? It could be he simply pissed in more than one bowel of cornflakes.
I’m not calling this Captain a hero, just saving my judgement for when actual data is released... if ever.
