Barrel is one its way and gunsmith will be chamfering it for 6.5 CM. I'll be feeding it out of a accurate brand mag on a AIAX chassis. Planned bullet will be Berger 130 hybrid seated to mag length. Will the gunsmith need to know this info for best results or will he just cut the chamber and specific round geometry is not needed.

To each his own but I'd be asking my smith any questions about what he's going to be doing to my build, and if he's not willing to take the time to answer my questions I'd be looking for a different smith.

Yup... I told my smith what bullet I wanted to run and he cut my chamber accordingly. On my first build I was pretty clueless and had a lot of questions. My smith was awesome with answering all of them and talking with me through some decisions, and letting me know which things worked and which didn't sometimes.

It's because of that service that I will be a return customer.

BTDT.

I have found that the simplest question to ask is "who owns the reamer" ? If it is the 'smith, you're gonna get a chambering that reflects his reamer's geometry, pure and simple. When I was first learning, I had to figure that out the hard way. The guy 'smithing one of my rifles just told me whatever I wanted to hear, then proceeded to cut the chamber with his reamer, which resulted in a chambering that was not what we agreed upon.

I now specify my own reamer dimensions and I buy/own them. That way, I get exactly what I want. Yes, there are finish reamers and throating reamers. I am not a fan of using throating reamers as I believe the best chamber is one that is cut with a single reamer, to the proper dimensions, the first time.

For a 130 Hybrid jump shouldn't matter to much so I wouldn't worry about the chamber dimensions assuming is saami or similar. I've found that 130 and 140 Hybrids don't really care how far they jump to the lands.

I would just ensure the reamer he's using doesn't have something silly like a huge or super tight neck, and all other dimensions are similar to saami.
