Confused with my reloads

I ran the satterlee load test and found 2 nodes in my 308 using varget. The higher node was between 43.4 and 43.6. I loaded up 20 rounds at 43.5 and took them to the range today. I'm using Forster benchrest dies, Lapua brass, cci br2 primers and 168 Berger hunting vlds. I ran the loads through my magnetospeed and ended up with a SD of 18 and a high es. Each load was individually weighed. So my question is was I not in a node or is it something in my reloading that was possibly the issue?

Put rounds on target. The satterlee method is not one I subscribe to.

Questions:
Virgin brass used during initial test?
Too much neck tension?
Kind of scale used?
Post the results from the initial satterlee test?
0.2grs is a narrow nodal window.

Satterlee is great in theory, however, it’s used by people who can’t shoot consistently or those who don’t have time to mess around with going to the range.

One attempt at the satterlee has about the same probability of finding your rifles node as you just copying someone’s else’s load off the internet.

I agree! Statistics is way more important in my opinion and that method has the smallest sample size of any method. Yeah you can get lucky and have it work.
If you did want to see the test through I guess you could try a bullet seating test to see if that improves your SDs and groups.

The Satterlee method is just a pressure ladder. Your pressure node should be closer to .5gr wide. Now that you know where your pressure is for your rifle and components you can do traditional five shot ladders.

I did that same test and got similar results.
No god like SD’s.

I decided to proceed with a bullet jump test on what appeared to be the high node then shot the best looking OAL load at distance from 400 to 1410.

I was very satisfied with that load.

Bullets tell the truth.
