hey guys, i've got a west german sig 228, i want something with a longer sight radium and maybe more capacity, and i like the look of the 226 blackwater edition a friend of mine has. does anyone have any experience with these? is it worth it to hang on the the W. german 228? your thoughts?

Had one and it was fine but I ended up with a X5 for a supressor
host . I think you will like the grip of the newer style blackwater . I dont like the 1st run with thr wood .

Of all the guns I ever traded off or sold, the one I regret the most was my W.Germany Sig 220. I would hold on to the 228 and find a different way to get what you want.

Re: considering trading my W. German sig 228

I have a W. German two tone 226 that I have considered selling or trading to fund something else. I'm not really into DA/SA anymore and it doesn't get shot much but damn if it doesn't run like a raped ape whenever I bring it out, I don't have the heart to get rid of it. Hands down the most reliable weapon I have ever owned or shot. With all of the QC issues at SIG over the last few years there is no way in hell I would get rid of that 228 to get a newer SIG of any variety. I would just get some spare parts for it and enjoy.

Re: considering trading my W. German sig 228

Keep any W. German SIG.

If you can trade it for a W. German, triple serial, nitro proofed P226, then OK... but don't swap it out for a new one.

If SIG were to implement the same QC standards they had back in the day, all Classic P-series would be over $1K.

A West German SIG has become like a Garand... if you could produce a new one with the same materials to the same standard, they would be much, much, more expensive- but you can't so why even think about it?
