I’m betting this has been discussed many times.
I’m looking for the correct way to use my Vortex Razor 4.5-27x56 1C scope.
Is there a good link or thread I can read up on?
All of my scope use for long range has been on my 264 Win Mag with 5-20x50 Huskemaw scope. I’ve shot it out to 600 yards on both target and animals.
I doped it from 100-600 yards.
Here is what I’m pondering.
I can dope the scope to 600 yards by shooting it and recording the clicks. So if I would attend a match out to 600 =no problem.
What if the match would go to 1000 and all I have is the dope to 600. How would I SWAG the minutes for targets out past 600?
I apologize for these dumb questions .
I guess in other words I have access to a 600 yard range but currently unable to get the info needed to shoot further out.
Thanks

You need a ballistic calculator. You can find free ones that do the job but you'll be much better served to pay a little and get one that will store multiple rifles, bullet profiles, etc.

I and may others here use Strelok Pro. It has a large library of scopes/reticles, factory cartridges, and bullets. It's helpful to have a measured velocity (not box-printd velocity), but since you have actual dope out to 600 yards you can use the truing function to deduce velocity.

Once you have everything entered into the calculator, it will give you scope settings for any range you care to shoot (subject to reason of course).
