That's it, I'm sick of it now!

My millett from ebay turnout to be a knowckoff... a very well made, but still a knock off...
Beware of opticalfactory on ebay... Even though he advertise his scope as LRS-1 instead of Millett LRS-1, I can tell from his "feedback" history that their are still people buying them...

The good news is that he refund me, even if I had bought the scope 3 months ago...

Crap, I'm gonna have to buy one in store... which is really bad because they ask 550$ for it here in Canada...

Anyway, have a nice Easter weekend with your friends and family guys!

Steph

Wrong eyebpiece, no cpmputer tested sticker, photocopied manual, no registration card, box was maroon instead of red.... no 12.5x mark on the zoom ring for half-mildot ranging, wrong turret box shape, wrong location of the SN#, wrong set of ring supplied, wrong ring screws (allen instead of torx), wrong lens caps... bad optical quality, was more like a bushnell banner then a Elite 3200 series... The illumination knob had 11 position instead of 10, and it was written 0 instead of "off"

The point, well, I paid it 330$ instead of the 550$ asked here in Canada....
Too bad...

Re: Counterfeit...

Interesting, none of this seemed suspect when you originally purchased it?

I have had a Millet or two that came on rifles I have purchased, didn't notice much difference between them and a bushnell.... Was able to shake one loose on an AR15 after less than 300 rounds. If your going to drop $550 why not get a half ass decent optic?

Re: Counterfeit...

Ironically the knock off is probably better

Re: Counterfeit...

If you want a Millet scope off ebay you need to look for stateside dealers with good feedback. For example opticsauthority and sharpshott are trusted dealers, they are EuroOptic. The dont sell millet but they are trusted, Optics Planet is on there. There are plenty of good reliable places on ebay to get scope. But it is not always the cheapest place.

+1 isn't Millet technically a knock-off of good scopes to begin with

so, the Chinese are finally counterfeiting their own now HAH!

Re: Counterfeit...

I can't imagine anyone is knocking off a Millet (low margins) so I wonder if it's a factory 'second' i.e. an error from the factory that was sold to whoever as an error. The Burris plant is right down the road and knowing people who work there, I can buy their errors for dirt cheap. Usual it's a spec of dust or the like but they've had some major errors like what you're seeing that were headed for the trash that we could buy too. Just a thought.

Re: Counterfeit...

Optical factory on eBay? Counterfeits? I wonder if that why they suddenly have several Bushnell Excusion FFP spotters for sale.

I bought one several weeks back and this thread caused me to look it over more carefully. Everything on this one and its accessories checks out with all the photos I could find, mostly in reviews here on the hide. Still, I wonder, as the glass doesn't seem as good as some of the reviewers indicated it should be. Mostly fairly heavy peripheral spherical aberation throughout the range of powers.

Another odd thing is that the auction cited the item's location as being Texas, yet it shipped from Oregon. Seems unusual to me, but maybe not significant. Not packaged very well, but lightning fast shipping.

Sorry to hear about your trouble. Cause for concern for sure.

Most people buying Bushnell glass (obviously not you) wouldn't know good glass from bad so the reviews are likely a reflection of that naivety.

Same went for me... what is awfull in my case, is he has been selling the real thing for a while... but he start selling knock off not long before I bought mine....

I had contact one guy who had bought a TRS from him a month before I bought my LRS... The guys seem to be really happy with it, and claimed to be a canadian soldier operating in afghanistan, so I went with the purchase.. the LRS-1 finnaly arrive 2 month after many communication and aditional discount...

I had never see a really millett before, they are not in store here, so I could not compare it, thus explaining why it took me a while to find out...once trouble started to occure....

About the comment on why putting 550 on half descent scope.. well, here in Canada, Elite 4200 series start at 500$, and I'm talking about the 3-9x-42mm, so the tactical model go in 600-700$.... I tried to order a LRS-1 from opticsplanet.com, but they now refuse to sell any rifle optic out of USA... something related to ITAC?

So even at 550$, the LRS, with its glasses in the range opf the Bushnell Elite 3200 serie is a not so bad deal, not brilliant for sure, but not awfull either..

About your spotting scope, take it to a store where they sell them and compare it, including its picture resolution and quality...

If you turn out to have a real one... you might be able to send it to Bushnell?

Cheers

Re: Counterfeit...

Hello

A few points on Milletts and copies:

1. Millett tactical scopes were of the first order, I designed them to have features that we unigue at the time. The DMS was the first " donut dot" reticle, the locking rings on the windage and elv were new for the industry, to name a could points.

As to copies the Chinese will copy just about anything they can make a buck on or even less. they counterfeit .20C of an RMB about less than 30th of ome US dollar.

Millett has done as much as we can to stop the counterfeiting but still they start up in new places and people.
Milltt has a lifetime warranty and is backed by Bushnell, if you get a junky counterfeit and loose your money what did you save? buy from a dealer and have back up.

good shooting

Steve

Re: Counterfeit...

The Millet Lrs-1 does have some interesting features for the price. 35mm tube for $500? 56mm objective, side focus, etched glass reticle, and 140MOA of internal travel?

My $1200 Leupold has 60MOA of internal travel and even with the 20MOA internal shim my LMT MWS zeroed with just 45MOA of upward travel- 5 MOA shy of 1000m dope. (not that that's the end of the world... but it was too bad to be so close and not have the extra 5.

Re: Counterfeit...

Steve! It has been a while since I saw you on a forum! Are you back in the game? I remember a while ago you were looking for a job, hope bushnell realised they needed a online rep like you on this market!

About the scope, so far, I'm waiting for one of the 6 stores I have contacted to get back to me with a LRS-1 in stock, all claimed to be out of stock... I had the oportunity to put my eye behing a Buck Gold 6-25x56 and I was super please! My knock off was such a crap when compared to the real millett glass...

If it wasn't of missing mildot reticle, I think I would have bought it instead of waiting endlessly for a LRS...

Keep up the good work there sir!

Steph

Your in Canada though, $500 is like $50 USD....

You should pony up a little more cash and seek out a decent optic. Millet might have some Unique and have had the pre-runner to most good ideas but a shitty assembly and cheap parts pretty much makes all those a wash. Who cares if it has 35mm this or side focus that if it is going to shake loose on something as simple as a 223.
