But without trying to sound crazy, I don't think that may stop it.

There seems to be a pattern in all these recent shootings where they happen at "just the right time" politically (including the shooting of the congressmen at the baseball game).

The "shooter" always just so happens to have been someone deliberately ignored by the FBI/Law Enforcement despite lots of warnings and pleadings from local people and concerned citizens that this person is crazy & going to do something bad.

They seem to be given all the time they need to kill as many as possible till they run out of ammo, kill themselves, call it a day and go get a burger etc before suddenly LE is all over it (when the whole time they are doing nothing to stop it).

Then of course after the killer has murdered a whole bunch of folks.
THEN when they KNOW it's safe, all of the sudden, the big strong brave police force are all happy to line up with all their tacticool gear and point weapons at terrified survivors, screaming at them and terrorizing them all over again and making them walk around like criminals with their hands up just to put that extra hurt on them. After cowering behind their RVs when the actual bad guy was doing stuff.

I have a very hard time believing that all these acts are just random and the pitiful response to it is also totally organic.

As a horrible conspiracy theory - these shootings are allowed to happen in order to further the anti-gun push. If I am not mistaken the shooter in this instance had been reported as a concern on at least one occasion and nothing was done. This just one more example of the gross incompetence that is systemic in law enforcement or something much more sinister.

I don't condone what he did but am more than a little familiar of youthful criminals. They don't think about the consequences of their actions. IMHO I think the shooter was bullied and finally snapped.

To reiterate, I don't approve of what he did. He must answer for his crimes. But to add a footnote to this sad story; the school administration and the law enforcement community have a lot to answer for.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist either but don't put it outside the realm of possibility that someone might have identified the shooter as a potential trigger-man then encouraged him to take revenge on people he perceived were his tormentors - just in time to prevent any further progress of pro-gun legislation in the Republican controlled congress.

The reason I say that is because one student passed him in the hallway before he began his killing spree.

The shooter warned the student to leave the building. If the shooter was looking for a target of opportunity, then why didn't he take down that kid right there?

I believe it is because the student that was spared was not part of the clique that were the bullies. I plead guilty to speculation and think that investigators need to look more into the motive of the shooter and who he had contact with prior to the shooting.

Good point. However, I don't think this crime has been fully investigated. And I still think Israel needs a scapegoat before the next election.

If they would continue to drill down and discover that the both the school administration and the Sheriff's department were woefully negligent in defusing the situation there could be hell to pay.

So the way they are looking at this is that enough rocks have been turned over; we don't need to look anymore. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

What you are seeing is our system at work. The investigation was thorough. Much will not be publicized because a judge ordered no release b4 trial to assure a fair trial, and an impartial jury.
Much cannot be released until after trial and appeal. Our system at work again.
Did the investigation show negligence on the Sheriff, the school, and other LE ?
HELL YES ! Enough has been published to show it to astute observers. Again, the system at work, to give the courts, lawyers, and everybody time to file....
The indictment of the deputy is the slow crawl in that direction, and the wheels of justice turn ever so S L O W L Y.
It's not going to be pretty.

Everybody wants immediate answers and immediate satisfaction, in some cases, immediate gratification.
The system, love it or hate it, is designed to prevent a rush to judgment, to let the hot emotions that lead to lynch mobs, cool off, and to gather all evidence to answer all questions.

Sometimes life isnt as nice or satisfying as we would like. Sometimes you just have to wait and see... Christmas to a kid cant come fast enough.

I think any rational person would be scared shitless, and any man would go anyway because there's kids inside at the mercy of a maniac. I'm not saying I wouldn't be scared shitless. I'm saying if I didn't go I don't know how I could live with myself. If a parent had gone in and stopped the shooter before he killed a single child that parent likely would be the one in jail today. If the murder of the children had started and the parent stopped it then likely the police would have shot the parent.

If you have a time machine you can figure out how best to stop this, in the real world being a hero is going to suck. Yeah, someday you might not have a choice, but don't expect to be recognized for a hero.

Government doesn't want anyone saving people even if your there and have the means. I took the Utah Carry Course a few years back, it was mind alternating for me. My entire adult life after my children were born I had a firearm close by at all times and thought if anything occurred that I could save a life I would take action even if it wasn't my family. The instructor explain when you do that you get charged and have to go through the court system to be found not guilty. He explained cases where people lost money and home for jumping into action. This never occurred to me , so if I was in a mall watching a shooter take people down the government would want me to leave because if I act I get arrested.
The instructor explained he had a short list of family members that he defend in any situation, if he can exit safely he would get out the back door.

Seems fucked up that you would arrested the good guy with the gun who saved lives and at the same time go out of you way not to violate the rights of the killer.

Depending on case by case evidence in stand your ground states, most citizens dont get in trouble. Most.

We only hear about the nightmare cases, not the good ones. There are "good shoots" in the vernacular and most of them are no-billed by grand jury and termed "justifiable homicide".

However, I do know of nightmare cases, and one friend spent 38k to get a not guilty in 45 minutes, in a democratic hole county, that I am unfortunate enough to live in.

The Utah Instructor was fudging on the safe liability side for all involved, himself included.
Proper attention to the specifics of the law, minimum use of force, and proper articulation generally lead to a no bill or acquittal. Can be pretty ugly getting there.

The further from fly over America, the worse it gets....
But, in some cases, your humanity prefers tried by 12, rather than carried by 6. How you mentally prepare will determine most cases outcome, but sometimes you draw the death card, and u leave, no matter how prepared or ready.

Regardless of your jurisdiction there will be someone else in a comfortable chair that will analyze your actions. They will make slow and deliberate decisions with the benefit of hindsight.

Many of those people making the judgments have probably never been in a fistfight, let alone a shooting.

Can't speak for anyone but myself here but I am most certainly not good with that.
Saving women and children definitely but getting shot by the police for doing it fuck that.
If they show up on the scene late as allways gun drawn they will be perceived as a threat as well until contact is made and there is some understanding of what is going on.
Not advocating shooting first and asking questions later but certainly not dying for a good deed from some scared shitless trigger happy Barney without protecting myself.

In my probably limited experience, women with a badge and a gun are worse than useless when you need them but always ready to put the boots to somebody's neck when there is no actual danger.

A lot if you are going to do it without collateral damage or becoming a casualty yourself. That is the training you need to move, shoot , communicate and stay inside the perps OODA loop long enough to eliminate the threat.

The skills to deal with the threat are trained-in.

But no amount of training will make you run towards gunfire. Into a burning building. Towards a car accident. Dive after a drowning kid.

That has to come from within. And if someone can’t or won’t do it... there is always accounting...
