CS at Manners is AMAZING

Not that its news to anyone here but I wanted to call out Tom Manners, Branden Burkhart and MCS in general for their amazing CS.

Had an experience recently where I had Branden repaint a T4-A that had been previously hydrodipped. Although not the point of the thread, his multicam is unbelievable. The pattern is every bit as clean and tight as the dip and the coverage was flawless. He even carried the pattern up under the adjustable cheek so that whether the cheek is up or down, it 's seamless. Seriously, if you're considering a camo finish, you really need to get on Branden's list soon. I suspect he's going to get incredibly busy!

Anyway, got the rifle back yesterday after it had been painted and some additional work performed and there was clearly some damage to the stock in the bolt handle cutout (along with some other more minor issues (like the rifle being covered in balsting material when it got back to me).

Followed up with a really detailed e-mail to the builder about what happened and asked to discuss my options for getting it rectified. It wasn't accusatory, it wasn't demanding, it wasn't anything other than I have an issue and need some guidance. I did also propose some solutions that I thought were fair. I received a phone call within 2 minutes saying "my guys didn't touch the stock, it's supposed to be that way, and either came from Manners like that or was damaged during the repaint and that I'd need to call Tom". He went on to tell me he personally inspected the rifle and it was perfect before it shipped, no damage, no balsting material, nothing, so essentially, not his issue.

So I called Tom.

He asked me to shoot him over the pics and told me he'd get it taken care of. Within 2 min he followed up and told me it look like shit, should have never gone out to me like that and to send it oin and he'll make sure it gets fixed and is made right. He went on to apologize for the experience and that he would follow up with both his guys and the builders guys. Oh, he also told me he'd turn it around in days, not weeks.

So far, so good...

What makes this stand out for me is that Tom's guys didn't do this. The bolt notch was damaged / modified at the builders shop, after the repaint and then rolled in black rather than being sent back out to be touched up (it was original muticam to match the rest). When I followed up with the builder he did finally own up to it having been his guys indicating they must have cut it out for clearance issues after he inspected it, and that it was still the right thing to do. Pretty big difference between "my guys didn't touch your stock" to "yea, they modified it, painted it, but it was the right thing to do". Just sayin'

The difference is amazing! One guy immediately defends his position, his guys and from my perspective, basically lied to cover his ass. The other guy said the stock has my name on it. I don't care who did it, I don't want a stock out there with my name that isn't perfect. Send it in and I'll make it right.

Tom is a standup guy and his commitment to CS and willingness to stand behind is product is top notch. He has imparted this on his guys as well and they carry this into their work and interactions.

Lots of great stocks out there, I'll only use Manners going forward. I'll get some pics up as soon as I get it back from Manners.

I have great dealings with Manner's stocks and I use them in most of all my builds if I can. I think the difference is Tom Manner's looked at it and, thought to himself, I wouldn't want my rifle to look like that and knew he had to get it fixed. While the other guy looked at it and thought, I got my money, and I don't really care. I know I would drop the builder and move on and then get another Manner's stock.

Re: CS at Manners is AMAZING

I agree with this thread. I had an issue with a stock and Tom called me at 7PM on a Firday after I pm'ed him to discuss it. That's a true test of a company. It's not if they have ever had an issue because all products made sometimes have issues its all about how they are taken care off. This is why my stock money goes to Manners.

+1 to all these comments. Tom called me and personally went over the new build I have to fit a Surgeon XL in a T3 ... probably spent about 30 mins on the phone with me. Absolutely top notch.

My experience with them was great as well. They made a mistake on my stock I asked about fixing it myself here. Tom called me at home on Saturday, on Sunday I had a UPS ship label in my inbox and I had the stock back in a few days. Great CS, just saving up for my next Manners stock

Wow, thats some great service. I've been really happy with my McMillan but my .300WM is going in a Manners as I want to try the MCS system. Nice to know that I'll be getting a stock from a company that takes care of the customer even when it wasn't thier fault.

Re: CS at Manners is AMAZING

I have only had 2 bolt rifles . my first one i sold 3 months ago it was in a Manners T4a stock . Worst mistake i ever made i have since bought the same barreled action and saved up and now have my Manners T4a coming from Stocky's in route to Manners to have flush cups and a spacer system put on and paint. I will never sell this rifle and only buy Manners Stocks again.

Re: CS at Manners is AMAZING

My experience with Tom has been similar. He 'fixed' a stock that was not in any way Manners' fault. He did it quickly and didn't even charge me shipping to get it back to me. Basically he used his time and his money (shipping) to help me out. I will be buying more Manners in the future.

Re: CS at Manners is AMAZING

Rifle is back in my possession and better than ever. Tom and Branden are awesome guys and both do some amazing work.
