Curtis released a new action today called (the Valor) It looks very familiar to the Vector with a few upgrades. Be interested to see one in person.

Only Differences I can see from the specs over the Vector is the New Valor accepts AI mags and AW and the Vector only accepts AW. Which I know from personal experience is not the case, the vector will also accept both. The Valor does Have .001 Head space dimensions and I am not sure what the Vector has.

Seriously not being a dick here.

What’s the difference? What’s new? They don’t explain what this does differently than vector. Like.....at all.

-Improved feeding with a proprietary Magwell design which eliminates any magazine binding or interface with the bolt.

-Both AI and AW magazine systems to work in conjunction without modification.

-Internal tolerance and different machine methods help improve overall bolt lift and cycle.

-Ejection port is lengthen to allow for longer COAL.

-The cocking piece is a new design that is also black nitrided for incredible smooth operation.

-Nitride instead of DLC

I’m excited to get my hands on a new one. Ordered from my dealer today. 👍🏼

I would suggest the make a point to list these differences. There’s very little out there. Marketing needs to step up.

Also, there’s almost no such thing as AW running without work needing to be done. Except on an AI.

I like my axiom, probably because it actually works lol, but I would go with the Zeus over this having not used either. The Zeus has the .725 bolt diameter which I've read is an upgrade, threaded trigger pins and probably better customer service.

What makes the .725 dia bolt an upgrade?

probably better customer service.

It’s a shame to hear this. I heard similar things in the past, prior to actually dealing with him, to the point when it came time to needing something from him I wasn’t looking forward to it. But I can say anytime I’ve dealt with Chase, which is several times including new orders and service items, and he went above and beyond and I was very pleased - every time.

From the reading I've read the .725 bolt is less likely to run into the lips on your mags. Like I said, I haven't had to use the customer service but from everything I've read its nothing special. I also remember reading that Proof dropped the Axiom from their pre fits. Not sure if that's still true or if it was just a rumor.
I really like my axiom but I bought it as a BA from MPA.

I called proof last week to ask about this since I am an axiom owner. They told me it is true, dropped for the axiom and vector.

The Valor wasn't out at the time, so I didn't ask about that.

I mean this is directly from their website...

Which they don’t tell you what the difference is from the vector. You have to go line by line. And most of it is just different wording saying the same shit.

The video is just a promo saying “this is good.”

Shit marketing. Hell, Phil at MPA did a better job of explaining this when he said it’s replacing the vector.

I'm going to jump on the bandwagon. The marketing language alone would keep me from buying a Valor. WTF does " Improved feeding with a proprietary Magwell design which all but eliminates any magazine binding or interface with the bolt" actually mean? That's a cut and paste from the Curtis website.

The Curtis Custom vs Terminus has been the most bizarre example of product joint custody I've seen. It's no wonder anyone new to the sport is scratching their heads over the difference between the two.

I've owned both, and there's a lot to like about the design that they share. I am instinctively suspect of any product with vague performance claims. Here Joel/Terminus is far more transparent on design changes of the Zeus, which now Curtis may be incorporating. However, even Terminus can't avoid marketing hyperbole, touting its "Proprietary Bolt Knob".

Where did Phil say this?

interesting. I have a Curtis and unfortunately had issues early on that were able to be fixed. Im curious to the line about bolt lift b.c one of the things 3 lugs suffer from is added effort at cocking on bolt lift b.c of the angle of the dangle.

it looks really great tho ...

If I get another 3 lug with ejector/m16 extractor it'll be a terminus.

Maybe they finally made them work, like Joel wanted to do, but had to leave and start Terminus to make it happen.
Edit. Still a .750” bolt diameter, so without an adjustable Mag latch in your stock/chassis, you’ll be tuning feedlips for days and it still won’t feed.
And when he did he released an action built exactly like the one he bitched about. He only made changes on the Terminus after the first run and then bad mouthed Curtis for not making the changes that he only did during his second run. Seems shady.

i have owned a few axioms and the worked flawlessly. The bolt will not bind with metal AICS or Accurate mags with no feed lip manipulation no matter if the rifle is resting on the mag or not. This means there is nothing inherently wrong with the larger bolt at least with AI mags. Remember Joel used it too. I think the issues are with the Vector. These same issues would be present with the first runs of the Terminus as well.

Has anyone had any trouble with an Axiom?

I posted above you that I had issues and it was with an axiom

I wanted to edit to add while I did have issues with my Curtis I was taken care of quickly. the first fix didnt correct the problem 100% at first but I was still taken care of from a customer service aspect.

You didn’t mention it was an Axiom. Glad you clarified. The feeding issues seem to be with the Vector and first run of Terminus is seems unless yours was a feeding issue.

What about this problem?

So is this model replacing the vector? Or going to be in the lineup in addition to the vector?

What I'm confused about is that it seems to be a very slightly modified vector, rather then a whole new action worthy of it's own distinguished name.

Good for them if they got the feeding issues sorted out (still don't understand the need for the oversized bolt), but I'm confused as to how this action is being marketed.

The same reason I have a couple hundred transactions here on the hide alone. Boredom. I like to try and play with different things constantly. The old saying goes “It’s not the toys you own that counts. Its all the toys you have played with.” I do it with everything, kayaks, dirt bikes, etc.

what's the back story on that?

I thought our fellow Canadian boys EM Precision say that Curtis' are perfect
Speaking of. He was showing me a 3 shot group from, “one of 150 rifles” they build a year, as if it has any significance to anything.
I showed him a 10 round group of 10 different charges that was under half MOA and he never replied. 🧐
