Abuse your mod privileges because you disagree with someone, very mature of you I can assure you I won't lose sleep over it either way.
Reality is the action doesn't work dudes out of pocket money and I have a vested interest, see he wont come in and say what I am so I have a company worth a shit would make it right in its entirety.

I've been waiting months and months and months on my Vector. Apparently still no bolts.... nothing shipping. I'm a Californian so I have an additional ten day wait to look forward to. Anyway, I got a Introductory pre-order and as far as I know, I'm the last to get my action... Told to keep patient... well, patience is up... not holding my tongue.
I got a 223 Rem bolt and a 6mm CM (308) bolt... plan to turn the action around and send to Phil to install into one of his new hybrid chassis. I explained that I wanted to shoot 6mmCM out of the AX mag and he has a 223Rem solution with a modified Accurate(?) mag that I think is AICS patterned. I mean guys, its a mutl-caliber action and there are bolts for 223, 224V/6.5 Grendel, and 308. So from the start it had to be able to support various magazines and calibers. I plan to compete with this rifle and I was shocked when I read this thread through. I'm pretty concerned and I sure hope Phil's fix does the trick. I'll be sure to ask him to modify feedlips and mag catches before sending it back to me.
The fact that the Curtis Shooters and others don't seem to have this problem is suspicious. Are the modifying their shooting by not pressing up on the mag, or have they done something to eliminate this issue. I'm following this thread closely.

Lol. We've clearly had different experiences. I've chambered, shot, and put hardware on the wall with them, but beyond that I don't have much experience with them so I'll shut up. OP, I still maintain that it's a very simple fix to get that Vector barrel running on your Axiom and your smith should be able fit it without having to take one cut on the barrel. He should be able to fix you up right quick.
I’ve noticed you don’t see the Curtis team shooters using aics mags only AW mags. At least in the brief videos I’ve looked at.
Without a fix to the action or chassis/stock you’re using I don’t see how the “upward pressure” issue can be resolved.
Sucks that this is the issue. I too wanted to run this as a switch barrel, but not entirely sure how that'll work with 223

Mpa has a fix for the AI mags.. I had my gunsmith measure the vector and compare it to 4 or 5 actions 1 was a aw style cut action and the vector was .200 longer in the mag well area which explains why AI mags wont work with up pressure because theres nothing to stop it.. I hear Chase is going to build an AI style action but who knows when that will be.. I've attached a picture of MPA's fix..its the Black peice above the mag latch.

Who needs a gamechanger when you've got a magazine? Someone call Phil and get up an arca plate added to his mag extension so we can mag support with a tripod! Joking aside, I try not to influence the mag all that much and if I do, I try to build a better position. I've just seen it cause to many problems over the years. I've got an old worn out remmy I cut my teeth on that will lock up tight on an AI with upward pressure. Probably why I learned long ago to avoid it.

The are two different prints from what I’ve seen. You can view them in their website. It wouldn’t work. I’ll be forking up some cash to cut my loses and put the barrel on my 2nd impact. I’m more pissed I’ll be losing barrel length honestly and the time wasted. That’s worth more to me than the money.

Little pressure it takes to get it in a bind. Like you could literally tap it up with less than a lb of force and an AI mag would overinsert and bind up the action while running the action. There are many stages where it’s nearly unavoidable to have slight pressure on the mag. Certain Culverts are a good example.
I have no problem selling it because nothing is “wrong” with the action. It is machined the same as all the others. If someone else wants to deal with any mods and fixes required due to the design of this action who am

Doesn't sound like an action issue to me sounds like you're trying to run AICS mags in an AW cut action without the proper depth or a stop to keep the feed lips from over protruding into the raceway and/or binding the bolt body if pressure is applied. If i stick an AICS mag in my Tempest it literally wont function latch isn't setup for AICS and nor should it be. It looks just like the pics you posted, but i run AWs exclusively . Have you tried AW mags to no avail? Or are you just wanting to use AICS mags? It's to note i can do this with a AW cut TL3 as well. If the magwell of the action is cut for AW feed lips it is by design wider than the AICS, without a stop and/or proper mag latch it will protrude into the raceway and/or bind the bolt body.
It's really just pick the mag you want and stick with it once setup. Which truthfully anyone running a 3-lug AW cut action and single feed mags is halfway defeating the purpose of going 3-lug IMHO.

Yes, two prints and .045 difference between them and with a little 2nd grade math, and the proper thickness recoil lug, that barrel will screw right on an Axiom and headspace perfectly. Your smiff doesn't get to soak you for a whole new chamber job and you might be out $50. Your welcome.
On point as usual. Does this mean the Tempest and TL3 are junk? By some peoples logic I guess it would. Until someone starts CNC'ing magazines for specific actions and chassis, we'll have to continue tweaking them on occasion. This whole thread is Fake News.
You should read the thread rather than me having to repeat myself. AI, ARC and AW mags do not function even after the manufacturer suggested modifications to the chassis.
Where does it say does not accept AI mags. Also my rifle wouldn’t run with AW mags out of the box. They wouldn’t even insert. I had to modify my chassis. Even after that they still wouldn’t feed. The rounds wouldn’t not center up and would hit the face of the barrel. So many of you are making claims and accusations without actually understanding the issue clearly. I’m not an idiot. This is not my first rifle/action. I’ve been shooting factory and custom bolt guns for over 10 years.

Regardless, the amount of money doesn’t matter to me. It’s the time, potential loss of barrel length, and overall inconvienence of not having a functional rifle for another month that bothers me. I’m fairly certain at a high level, you are not seeing the issue at hand and have begun searching threads at a microscopic level to pick arguments with people. I think the stance most people are trying to make is THIS action in particular, will not run reliably with any mazagine. Regardless of mods that are done to the mag and chassis. MPA has engineered a short term fix to the AI mag issue luckily. Unfortunately over half my rounds from an AW mag end up in the face of the barrel and not the chamber due to the feed ramp not engaging and centering rounds properly.
We aren’t talking about Sally’s vector. Not bob’s. We are talking about mine. Maybe it was a lemon. Maybe it is inherent to the design. I don’t know. But the company stood by their product and offered a refund so I have no bad taste in my mouth with Curtis at all. The guys there are great to work with and clearly make some awesome stuff otherwise they wouldn’t be as well known as they are today.
While yours might, the next guys may not. 5RWILL said he can lock his up with upward pressure in his TL3 and Tempest with an AI. Another guy said he can duplicate your scenario with a Kelbly. The point is there are a ton of variables, from one stamped magazine to the next and to the dozens of different bottom metal and maglatch setups. I once had a 'cough' Mcree 'cough' and would run Alphas but the mags swelled so much with 10 rounds in them that I had to do some work on them to get them to fit at all. Ive got AI mags that lock up my 700 with upward pressure and magpuls that do not. Lots of variable to deal with.
First off, I'm truly glad that you are getting a refund. I'm just trying to help you realize you don't have a bastard barrel at all. If you have a vice and wrench, you could put it together yourself with the right lug. Best case a .300 lug could work, depending on how close he followed the print, some like .005 bolt nose clearance, some like .010 or somewhere in between. Worst case he surface grinds .005 off the lug and hands it to you. If you don't have a vice and wrench, yes, he would have to turn the screw for you #GUNSMIFFIN Either way, the right thickness lug is all it will take to let you run the shit out of that barrel on your Axiom.
I'm impressed y'all got a response on here from Curtis. I live 20 mins from their shop, have sent mutiple emails too them and never a word back.
Trust me the only reason they got a response is because they didn't want it plastered all over the internet.
It was 3am here I skimmed, admittedly did miss where you tried AW mags. Maybe it's harder to explain in writing than it is to show someone but what you're describing doesn't sound like an action issue. It would have to be grossly out of spec for it to be one. Which is a possibility but a rare one. Have you dropped it in another stock/chassis to verify it's the action?

I get the screenshot of the action description mentioning that it has an AW cut. Wonderful.... but it is switch caliber and there are bolts for 223 and 6.5 Grendel. Show me an AW mag that will feed 223REM, 224V, and 6.5 Grendel. AFAIK, that doesn't exist. It has to support a mag that supports these calibers. It is going to have to feed something AICS patterned.
There are spacer kits for the AW for the dasher that i think might run the grendel, 223 and 224v obviously would be a no go. It should work with either mag though, just with the inability to go back and forth, or at least in my experience. Though seems like he's tried both mags and adjusted the depth accordingly but to no avail which makes me wonder if it's the chassis with the vector or the vector itself. The issue described earlier on sounded like a rudimentary AW-cut issue. I had the very same with my Tempest. If the OP has another stock/chassis to try or has a friend that would be my solution. If that didn't work i'd let Chase and the crew work on it or just get a refund, take the loss, and go elsewhere as harsh as that sounds.
It’s an action issue. My Remington and impact both work flawlessly in this chassis. Believe me it’s the action. It also fed and ran fine with AI mags but only if the mag was pulled down and there was no pressure on the mag. Fine if all you do is shoot prone at the range. I shoot PRS so this isn’t gonna work for me. If you buy a vector you’ll see exactly what I mean.
Well i'd try a different chassis/stock to verify if you can get your hands on one without being out anymore money. At the very least that might give you a route to sell the MPA and get something that works so you wouldn't be out of so much money. I get that your 2-lug actions feed fine but that's not really a viable comparison. Compatibility issues exist even if said action says 700 footprint and said chassis is a 700 footprint. The tempest is a prime example i had to have my Mini-chassis inletted from Manners so my Tempest would fit. At this point i'm not saying your wrong, i'd just try every possibility before going through the hassle that awaits you if indeed it's the vector. Best of luck to you.
I'm running mine in a KMW sentinel with the mini chassis and have the same problems. I had to file the mag catch to get AW mags to even latch in.
AICS mags won't work with even the slightest pressure, and 3 different AW mags won't feed the 2nd to last round no matter how many rounds are in the mag; 10, 8, 5, etc. Even if I only load 2 rounds it hangs up on the first one. So 2 left is some sort of magic jamming number.
Must be something then, hopefully chase will address the issue. I know it sucks but there are usually growing pains with actions that deviate from the market standard (2-lug/pushfeed/small bolt body/700 footprint). Shane on here had several with his tempest shroud that were unexplainable to the point that i think he just switched. Which i couldn't blame him for. I've never had it happen to mind and have been pretty fortunate in that regard.

I wonder if the reason why my receiver and two bolts haven't shipped is that they are trying to find a fix for this problem.
I was able to fix my issues with AW mags. I filed down the mag catch and used and un-modified AW mags and it runs like butter now.
I had 3 other AW mags that I had filed the feed lips down slightly on and those would get the 2nd to last round jammed up. Ordered a new AW and it works great now.
Still no fix for the aics upward pressure problem. And no you can not file the feed lips on the aics, you won’t have any lips left.
Nope. AW has been flawless. With upward pressure it’s a little rougher obviously but can still feed no problem.
No problems with the set screws BUT DO NOT TORQUE TO 25 in/lbs. You will strip them. I couldn’t even get to 15 in/lbs. mine is probably at like 5 in/lbs but with 100+ rounds so far no problems with them backing out or anything.
Update: just received a brand new AW mag I ordered from Core and it too gave me issues feeding the 2nd from the last round loaded in the mag. So I filed a couple thou (measuring with a caliper) off the back of the mag catch on the AW and now it won’t feed a single round.
When the bolt pushed the round forward the nose immediately goes right and hits the feed ramp on the right side.
So I’ve got 1 AW that works and 1 brand new one that’s not working and an AICS that works as long as I don’t put upward pressure on it. Jesus why couldn’t AI just make a light weight AXMC or even AT with a mag bolt face lol this is SO FRUSTRATING
