im looking at buying one but I can't for the life of me figure out what 16.5 inch version on grab a gun is like 100 dollars more than the 24 inch model. Am I missing something else?

You reach max velocity with standard velocity ammo at about 16 inches. A longer barrel is better with open sights but you aren't gaining velocity, not much anyway, with it shooting match ammo.

Like the previous posters have said, the 16.5 version is threaded 1/2x28. I bought the 16.5 version and it's a pretty sweet gun. Throw a yodave trigger kit and DIP rail on it and get to shooting it.

After 18" in a 22LR you are likely losing velocity not gaining. Like mentioned above, all powder is burned at around 16" depending on the ammo and after that you start losing velocity to friction. I've seen this using a chronograph to prove it, however, I wasn't starting at 24" and cutting the barrel back further and further each time and each barrel is a little different. Take my findings with a grain of salt but review it for whatever it may be worth to you.
