CZ 457

Stupid question follows.

Is there any difference in the CZ 457 actions among various models?

I am asking with the view toward buying whatever rifle is cheapest with a 457 action, stripping it down, buying a barrel and chassis and so on and just build what I want instead of trying to pick what I want from what CZ offers (which is difficult, because I want this feature from rifle A, and this feature from rifle B, LOL).

Or if I buy a $450 CZ Scout is the action somehow different from the CZ Manners MTR or the ProVarmint and so on?

450 bucks for an action seems cheap compared to, for example, my Impact Precision action in my centerfire rifle.

Wisdom in this post, especially if building a setup with multiple applications.
YMMV, happy shooting

This is what I did. Found the suppressor ready 20” stainless in stock for $500. This is the base of my build.

A couple pics from today's 22 BR match at PHA in Central NC. Took a second in two different classes. Things got difficult on the second relay when the wind came up from an approaching front. Target stands were getting blown over, and some shots got blown out of the10 ring. Overall a good morning even with the weather.

I just picked up a 457 Varmint last week with area419 arca and pic rails, weighted with upgraded bolt knob and a harris bipod. Took it out Sunday afternoon and was really impressed. 100 yard accuracy with multiple ammo types. Aguila HP 38 grain and PMC target were the best. I even consistently hit the 200 yard 10” plate with my last magazine of the day. Best .22 I will have ever owned.

How often do they have matches? I’d like to try out a match some time and I haven’t really seen much local (I’m in Greensboro)

The 22 bench rest match at PHA is the third Sat morning of the month. Then they will shoot again the following Thursday morning. You can check out the range web page for details, pha-range.com. The proper name for the place is Piedmont Handgunners Association, but they have rifle, SG, pistol, and a dedicated 22 range. They are located a little below the Lexington area, near I-85. The match is very laid back, with a lot of friendly people, and there is a class for you to shoot in, no matter how built, or factory your rifle is. They only charge $5 to shoot. Best deal in town. Get there early, as the benches fill up fast, and have a good 50 yd zero. Come on out. ETA, I shoot uspsa on that Sat, so I’m there on Thursdays. They also shoot BR at Riverside in Richfield on the 1st Saturday, and DPRC in Mebane has a more tactical style match, but I’m not sure of the weekend.
