Suppressors dB comparison of Surefire SOCOM RC2 and SB2 on 10.3" SBR

Since the SB2 is made for barrels shorter than 10" and from what I have found is the only difference is the inside diameter of the tube is slightly larger on the SB2 than the RC2. People have said this would mean the RC2 is quieter, but I have not found any data supporting this. Does anyone have any personal data or have found this online?

The difference between the two isn’t the inside diameter of the tube, it’s the size of the bore through the baffles.
This is to give more of a safety margin in case a bullet leaves a short barrel before it is completely stabilized.

I’ve not seen a dB comparison between the two, but having spent a lot of time shooting my SOCOM RC next to other manufacturer’s cans I can definitely say that it’s a complete waste of time chasing down the last few dB on a suppressor for a semiauto centerfire rifle.

I would be willing to wager that if you shot the RC and the SB side-by-side in front of 10 people you couldn’t get a consensus on which was quieter.

The larger bore would in theory give you less blow back and less DB at the shooter but more at the muzzle.. but depends on how much of a bore diameter difference actually is

Thanks for the input. Seems like the SB is a better buy for me just in case I have a smaller than 10” SBR.

SOCOM testing is now done at the shooters ear correct? If so, technically this could be quieter than the RC. This would be a very small difference in dB levels though.
