So my town used to be pretty underdeveloped, lots of woods and open property. Industrialization inevitably came and now I'm in suburbia. Deer have nowhere to go and it's gotten so bad driving has become dangerous. Any given time or day and you'll check your brakes to avoid one.

Point is, I'd like to present this to someone with authority but I'm not sure where to start. It's a number of small but separate jurisdictions so maybe I go over their head to a county level? Who's my best shot at actually getting somewhere with this?

FWIW, the next county over has already implemented a program to "remove" some of the overpopulation but it's been fought by the yuppie, self indulgent, cigar smoking, 2nd Amendment damning, too cool for school boys club they call their citizens, but at least someone's listening.

A lot of Austin TX is just like this, it was nothing to see a new dead deer on the side of the road every single day on 2222 near 620. You've just gotta reduce their numbers with your bumpers because other means are a political no-go.

We have some wild turkeys that play near the ravine but nothing overwhelming. We just kinda laugh at how ugly they are.

Well maybe it time to start a side job. May I say heavy duty bumper guards. Custom built to fit with no visible mods to car, bolts in under front bumper. You could then sale addon such as barbs/spikes/ or push plows good for deer or moving snow off drive. Just a thought. LOL

Its gotten even worse, High. Up til a year or so ago I owned a little spread in Llano. I refused to drive 71 after dark its so bad. Out around Spicewood theyve gotten so thick that they are inbreeding and have produced whole herds of dwarf deer population. They are really unhealthy and crippled from all the inbreeding, but as noted, the liberal hippie residents out that way wont allow then killed off. Its sad. More deer are killed in Llano county each year by cars than by hunters. The bumbers help but unfortunately many of the impacts are from the side with deer trynig to get across the road and run into the truck.

bow and processing equipment. i grind 100% of my venison and put it in tacos, spaghetti, and any other meal that has seasoning with the meat. nobody even knows its not beef.

I get out when I can but the population problem is in the city, not the country. Can't sit on 322 and plink deer from the GAP and Old Navy rooftop.

well the best bet is go armed with a Ranger, Game warden, or a habbitat enviormentalist. Reason being, once a population gets too far out of control food decreases, poor looking/ smaller game takes over then death and disease causing a "kill off". In the 80's Tennessee yuppies would not do a herd thinning over the "green peace land". Result was over population in deer. Smaller mal- nurished deer wich led to a "kill off" of deer. Black toung ran rampant through North Al and Ms and south west Tenn. 10's of thousands of deer died mostly near water cause they were dieng of starvation and dehydration.

Which brings us to Hunting/ harvesting. That is why game management is very important it ballances the effect of what you are going through.

IMO, Save a deer bag an activist.

Wow, I can't even imagine it being worse than it was when I lived there. It's too bad that they're inbreeding so much, you would think the libs would see that as a sign that something needs to be done to help the herd but...
