I am in the market for a new upper. The DTI upper is on the cheaper side. Does anyone know if they are a good brand. I was offered one in a trade. Any input will be helpful. Thanks for the help.
I built a Lightweight 16" carbine for my Mom from one of Delton's rifle kits. It's worked great. My only issue with it, is that the front sight needed to be dialed up higher than it should be. (The detent keeps it in place, so it's not a huge issue.) I see that their newer front sight bases have the available option of a F-Marked front sight base. This would be the correct setup for a flattop carbine. But who knows if they're correct.
This is roughly how it looks with a proper zero.
Besides that I felt it was worth the money to pay for the upgrade of chrome lining and a Milspec CTR stock. I didn't test accuracy. I think I shot around 4moa with an Aimpoint CompM2. (What I'd expect with a 4moa dot.)

I have a DTI Midlength 16" with a pencil barrel. I haven't shot it for groups, but it does hit what I'm aiming at, and it goes bang every time I pull the trigger. It's not as smooth when you pull the charging handle as some of the other brands, though. Maybe that's just because it's still fairly new.
