I have read many, many threads where members recommend the Lucas bore guides and I believe there have been some mention of the possum hollow bore guides.

Can anyone comment on the Dewey bore guides? How well do they work, fit, quality, etc.?

Thanks.

Save your money. Do not buy the Dewey bore guides. The purpose of bore guide is to center to cleaning rod in the bore so the rod does not contact the bore and cause damage. The Dewey and most other bore guides do not center the rod. The holes in each end of most bore guides are way too large and allow flexing. Get the Lucas guides. Or you may consider one of TK Nolan's bore guides (The Barrel Saver). TK's are quite a bit more expensive. I use Lucas and they work great.

I've never used the TK Nolan bore guide nor have I seen one. Nolan bore guides are very popular with the benchrest comp shooters. Although most of us on here do not clean our bores as fanatically as benchrest shooters (as frequently as every 10 shots sometimes), there is no doubt that we can learn something from the bench rest crowd in regards to bore cleaning methods and the proper tools required.

From what I've read about TK Nolan guides is that the insert (which is made to fit very closely to whichever cleaning rod used) supports the rod for almost the entire length of the bore guide...whereas the Lucas insert is approx 3-4 inches long. I have no idea whether this makes any difference in practice. I may try to get one of the Nolan's and see for myself.
