That for me is the real issue at hand. I know there are good men in le but at what point will they condem the actions of the not so good ones? If I'm being honest I feel there's more bad than good. That blue blood is thick.
I'm not quite to where the wadester is yet but I'll tell you, lockdowns and le's enforcement of them has left a bad taste in my my mouth. Up until that point I'd always viewed le pretty favorably. I have a hard time looking at them in a positive light nowadays.
Friend of mine got popped for a dui by local pd 12 years ago roughly. After he'd done his probation and got his license back he was pulled over and harassed by the same cop that busted him for several years. Cop always threatened him saying it was just a matter of time and he'd get him again. My buddy never gave him the satisfaction.
Cops like that is what gives le a bad name but none of the brotherhood will oust them so the cancer grows.
I left the sheriffs department for family medical reasons. I took criminal justice pre law classes from the beginning. I wanted to be an FBI agent. I held them in high regard. Have a local friend here who is retired and has awesome stories. Life happens and I never even got to apply for a fed LEO spot. Fast forward to 2008 and Obama shit show, that was the start of my distrust, not to mention Ruby Ridge and Waco, waaaay in the back of my mind. Obama showed me the construction of weaponized government against conservatives. I kind of plateaued but still trusted Feds. Fast forward again to Trump years, I read up comey and whitey bugler story. He is still in LE after that fuck up? Then fast forward again to 2020 election.

I'll be honest with you, and it'll sound like excuses, but the organization is too big and powerful for individuals to mount any kind of meaningful charge. It's like you say, Bender, I'm a cog in the wheel. If I get in the way, they'll spit me out and replace me with the bright-eyed 30yr old version of me from a decade ago, thinking I'll save the world. The fbi tells us about how many applicants there are, and if we don't want the job, we'll be replaced by someone waiting at the door. Hoover literally doesn't care.
This Covid shit started a lot of us down the road to discontent. I know people that got pushed out because of their refusal to take the shot. There were over 900 of us on one Signal chat, sharing information about how to fight that mandate. People were submitting all kinds of reasonable accommodation requests, religious exemptions, medical exemptions, etc. I refused to do any of that and have somehow gotten away with it. Now I'm on thin ice for pushing back on the Jan 6 stuff. They'll get me in time, but I'm going to make them put in the work to fire me.

My wife was also an agent for over thirteen years. She worked Violent Crimes Against Children. Put more people in jail than anyone I know. She got sick of all the bullshit and pulled the plug almost two years ago. Seriously the best agent I've ever seen work.
The good ones are leaving, being replaced by more diverse candidates who step over a lower bar. I know five people that've left in the last two years, four of them with more than ten yrs in.

The US Attorney's Offices (local branches of DOJ) are a fucking mess. We can hardly get them to take cases that matter. All they want are Jan6 folks and Chinese/Russian hacking cases.
Here in this thread is the only time I've told anyone what I do in a couple years. It's not something I'm proud of these days. The reaction has gone a long way to convincing me there's nothing left to save.

My favorite book I've read recently is Checkpoint Charlie by Lain MacGregor.
A lot of people think Socialism is creeping in like the way it did in Russia and China by wiping out anyone how failed to fall in line, I think the East German model is far more likely.
I can 100% see some of the current breed of politicians suggest we build an Anti Fascist Protection Wall and I see the current breed of police getting right in behind it too.
Obviously all for our own protection.

This is the issue. No one knows what to do. One thing we can all do is get involved LOCALLY. Your local reps and Sherrif is the way. When time comes for other things, then be ready. Let's don't pretend like those other things would be anything other than horrible because that's exactly what it would be.
You'll never hear about an individual disciplined or "unemployed" by the agency for insubordination, because that would be what they would call it. Personnel matters are kept confidential. Some of our GOP congresspersons have had information from "whistleblowers" from inside the agency. What happened to that?
