Did you see my GAP videos last summer? What would you like to see this summer?

Hey everybody, haven't been super active here because school has had me super busy.

Anyways, as a lot of you know I worked for GAP last summer making some videos of their products. If you haven't seen, here's a link to my page:

The most recent videos are much better as I learned editing on the fly.

This summer, I will be doing some more GAP videos, albeit not as many, and not technically working solely for them. I am in the process of building my own range where I should be uninterrupted 100% of the time, have hopefully about 1300 yards to shoot, and a large variety of metal targets.

I've upgraded my computer to quite the editing tower, have more/better editing software, and although it won't make a different this summer I'm taking some advanced editing classes with the computer engineering department the next few semesters to broaden my technical horizons.

What kind of videos would you like to see this summer? I'll have lots of space and targets to work with, and I'm open to any ideas. Any companies you'd like to see more on their products, gunsmiths, etc. Heck I plan on doing some shorter videos on personal rifles, so nothing is out of the question.

I'd like to do this as at least a part-time gig after school so I have a year to get some good relations going and hopefully some future business!

What about a short video on wind dope on the fly anywhere out to 1000. A camera on the targets with a piece of caution tape or wind sock and as conditions and range changes, call out different wind calls. The wind flags will allow people watching a chance to remember how they were behaving and how you quickly put a dope on for it. With that fancy pants scope camera you used, you could even show quick mil hold overs and hold offs.

Winds calls are something I'm still working on and as the wind changes, I'm not nearly fast enough to catch it which equals a miss on my part. Hardest part for me, I don't have a kestrel or wind meter, is determining wind speed by looking at the leaves or wind sock. Multiple cross winds, oh jeez, shot in the dark for me.

Just an idea. Doesn't always need to be about guns right?

Good for you on taking some classes. As a pro, I can tell you that the user forums (2Cows, FCP User Groups, Adobe, etc...) can yield a wealth of info. As you progress, you'll find that macros and plugins will help you immensely.

I also have a 338 Lapua Improved I will make a shooting video with, perhaps some stuff getting annihilated at close range, and some shooting at 1k+

I'll see what I can do as far as some through the scope views while holding off for wind/dialing for wind, etc

A behind the scenes video would be quite awesome and I'll ask about it, but don't hold your breath because that video isn't really going to make GAP money.

I think something worthwhile might be a side by side comparison of as identical as possible rifles/load combinations with different barrel lengths. It seems to be a question asked a lot. "How much velocity will I lose", or "How much extra MOA/Mil will I need to get to xxx range" etc. if I chop my barrel. 260 Rem 308 Win etc as common calibres and say barrels from 24/26" to 18/20"

Doing a video on shorter barrel lengths, and subsequent velocities and elevation holds would be bitchin' as well...

As some others have stated, I'd like to see a vid on the xtreme hunter and the highly touted 6.5 SAUM. Read the threads on it and it sounds like a monster.

+1 for behind the series and get to know the staff. A even incporating 1 staff member into each video (then maybe you shoot his gun). Would love to get the feeling that George is talking right to me(random youtube viewer).

I would really like to see a "superbowl-ad" type video. Like some catchy phrase, an impossible shot, why you choose G.A Precision. I am a sucker for that stuff.

Tyler, those GAP-10 videos are awesome.

I agree that a behind the scenes rifle manufacturing video would be great to show the quality control of GA Precision.

If you had some long-range video through a high magnification quality spotting scope with side by side video of shooting commenting on windage and elevation holds that would be really nice.

I may have missed this, but if you could comment on the actual loads (bullet, powder, primer, brass, etc) used too.

Tyler, well done on the videos so far! What I would like to see is your girlfriend or another hot coed from your school as a GAP spokesmodel. A monologue in a video is difficult to pull off well. Get your girlfriend to interview you about the aforementioned requested shooting, rifles or the questions for George and company when you do the behide the scenes work. By my mind a conversation is much more interesting.

I would agree with behind the scenes. Also I agree big time on knowing the staff or at least the head honcho. I garentee anyone who looks up JP Enterprises shot show video with NutNfancy will soon crave a JP. John Paul presents himself as a complete accuracy and perfectionist nut. Heck it made me think I want HIM to build me a rifle. I also have loved your videos in the past and have ordered a GAP 10. Cant wait to see some new ones!

So far I see a few trends and want to confirm:

New GAP rifle looks to be #1 for sure
New Defiance action will be covered as well
Shooting more through the scope cam and showing windage/elevation holds
Behind the scenes at GAP
Mil-spec rifles I didn't have time to shoot and create videos for last summer, being shot
338 dominating things

A few ideas I have as well, one has been mentioned:

Barrel length and effect on velocity (I imagine taking the same rifle, same barrel, and cutting it down slowly, while trying to keep all variables the same)
Muzzle brake tests, everyone wants to know what brake to use, I want to get video evidence of what each does
223 vs 308, with rifles made for shooting long range (223 can keep up!)

Anything else? Obviously I won't be able to make a super great 10 minute video on everything, but I'd like to do some personal guns to, as a review, such as my GAP 375 WSM, Savage F/TR 223 and 308, etc

Everything sounds awesome, I don't think that you can really go wrong with anything GAP on video. When do you think these will be getting made? New defiance action is going to be a hot video, and how about that new extreme 6.5 SAUM that George is shooting, would like to some of that as well. Look forward to all of the videos, and appreciate you making them.

I would like for you to do something on the 6.5 saum as well...give me something that makes this rifle extreme...like an extreme video...details, details....get George on the video talking about it..to the viewer...show me vid of him making one...of course you would need to edit but thats what you do...

I'd like videos that i can hear on my smartphone. The last ones you did had something wrong with the sound and all i could hear was digital noise.
