I’m no stranger to adjusting the diopter properly. I just recently got a S&B 3-27x and the reticle is clean from about mid range all the way to bottoming the - side out.
About mid range to all the way to the + side is when it gets blurry.

I’m not entirely sure where to set it from mid range to bottoming out the - side. It all looks good in any of that. My eye isn’t re-focusing. If been messing with it for a couple hours now trying to catch my eye focusing it when I get behind it but nothing.

As far as edge to edge clarity, it feels more pleasing to have the - side bottomed out. Never really ran into this before.

My main concern is when I took it to the range yesterday, it took a lot more parallax than marked, which we all know that can’t be trusted, but even at 300yds I was damn near infinity. I felt like that can’t be right so I’m reinvestigating the diopter

Get someone to verify the diopter issue.
If not totally familiar with the method, explain it to them.
Might be a bad scope but two problems?
Your eyes are still probably trying to compensate.
It would be like trying someones glasses on and not noticing the prescription.

I use glasses and have to use a positive corrective lens because many scopes don't have enough positive range.
Your case is obviously different :)

Mines definitely different considering I have a huge range of clarity to choose from.
