There are a lot of us. So this is probably a stupid question.

Does anyone know of an outfitter that offers a discount?

Not looking for a free hunt, but lately it is hard to find someone that will take a single hunter.

I have noticed that tips used to be $100-200 are now $800-2000. That is not my financial swim lane. Just trying to find something I can afford.

Thanks for that. I am in New Mexico. I have been looking in Texas, but I think the outfitters get beat up pretty yard by every 3rd guy that starts a hunting veterans organization so his buddies can hunt.

I would call F&G and ask for a list of guides, contact a local VFW / AMVETS, cruise by well established gun shops and ask around. Be careful, there are many illegal operations that will take your coin. When you find one, ask for a full disclosure, if they will not provide, I would be hesitant. Call prior clients, if its 100% awesome sauce, be leery. Always call F&G as they (should) have good records. A friend had scouted and found maybe a book Dalls for his client. On their stalk, boom, illegal guide poached it as Rodney had the paper for that area. Sat phone to the troopers.

Guiding has and is getting expensive. The first 2 things for paper; WFR and $1 million liability.

I was a personal guide, 1-1 ratio, my second was camp manager, chores, safety and recorded the trip that was given free at the end of the trip. I worked for someone else as second guide, more than 2 is not my thing.
