Therefore, you'll often see guys ranting and raving about how great they think their suppressor is when in reality they have a low-end, poor performing product.
In short, don't be surprised when guys with a YHM Mite rate the product at five stars. Then people see that "review" and believe the product is "top tier" when it is far from it.
Best of luck to you. </div></div>
Why are you dogging on YHM? They are a fine company. I am not going to sit here and toot my own horn but Bryon knows me very well and he knows my collection as most of it came from him. I have a wide variety of manufacturers, and I can say without a doubt, FOR THE MONEY SPENT, YHM is one of the best suppressors out there.
Oh, what? It's heavy? Get a gym membership instead of another year of video game subscriptions!!!

Ever noticed that people who stick up for their YHM products always throw in some comment like "great for the money" or "a good value for the price"?
The YHM products aren't bad necessarily; they just are not a top tier product. The Mite in particular is harder to disassemble than many of its contemporaries, has noticeable first round pop and is simply louder than other take-apart designs. Sure, it is cheaper. Some people want the best product they can get regardless of cost.
My point was that while this is a good endeavor and I wish it success there will be people giving reviews of products without having other experiences as a reference. That isn't a unique issue for silencers. This happens all the time in gun magazines. Heck, I read an article several months ago in a major magazine where the author was praising a Hogue stock on a Remington .308 rifle as a great performer. The comments were laughable. Yet, I bet some poor guy went out and bought that rifle because of that article only to later find what a piece of garbage the Hogue stock is on a center-fire rifle. On a 10/22 that stock is awesome.
So, I wasn't trying to "poo-poo" anything. I was trying to point out issues that could be addressed pretty easily with a little tweaking of what should be required for a review.
I also wasn't trying to hurt anyone's feelings who might own a "good value" product. If that product works for you, great. The fast is the Mite (just since that has become the example here) is NOT as quiet or as elegant a design as something like an AAC Element or SilencerCo 22Sparrow. It isn't as expensive either but the performance differences (in an ideal review world) would be made clear to the reader.
I plan to add some of my own reviews and when I do I'll be sure to give specific information on host weapons, type of ammo used, personal experiences with other products and shooting environment. Hopefully, the information will be useful to someone. Reviews already exist at other forums but it would be nice to have one place with a good library of data.
Oh, one last note. The problem I have with some other sites that publish dB meter information is that the dB meter only measures pressure. It fails to give information about tone, frequency, sound dissipation, etc. It IS part of the meaningful information people should use to judge products. However, it is only part of the equation. I feel the type of data MM is trying to accumulate can be much more meaningful to a prospective buyer.
Take care. Hope everyone has a good day. I started mine with a 3-mile run followed by some weight lifting. Maybe one day I'll be able to lift heavy suppressors. LOL.

Book,
I own 5 Phantom QD 7.62's and they have ALL been outstanding. I have never had an issue with any of them. I have had issues with some of the "top tier" guys you think so highly of. I do however have a huge problem when people doubt a good suppressor when it is actually your best money spent when getting into the world of suppressors. It's a starter can that can take the abuse of 30 cal and under, and 300WM with no issues.
I am also a proud owner of their Cobra M2 45 suppressor. It is an excellent pistol can and has served for thousands of rounds out of my Kriss Super V - SBR. Never an issue.
They are trustworthy, reliable machine work, and built like a tank, probably over built. Dont be so quick to fling doody just because they made one can, a 22lr Mite, that is not up to your standards. I've said it 50 times, for my money and reliability, as a first time purchaser I went with that can. It gave me multiple mounting solutions for different rifles and was a great way to get familiar with suppressed rifles and how they function. Are there better cans out there? Sure.... can everyone spend that much money for one? Probably not.
It's all about the individuals needs.
