Easiest Chassis to Install Barreled Action Into

That depends, things like trigger hangers and recoil lugs that increase the dimensions outside of a stock R700, make it interesting.

I'm happy with an AI AT-X AICS, but that is the only chassis I have ever owned.

If it's an older 591, no problem. If there is a newer 591, maybe.

I believe the older AICS had some interference with a Jewell trigger. It seems the more recent chassis have a little larger opening for various triggers.

So would there be screws that go into the bottom of the action to hold it in the chassis or?

Yes just like any chassis or stock there are action screws that screw into the bottom of the action and hold it in the chassis. Below is a pic of my 591 in a Manners with mini chassis. I will see if I can find any pics of the mini chassis area of the stock but there are pics on Manners page.

Thanks much.

You install the trigger into the hanger and then screw the hanger into the action.

The hangers make the triggers footprint larger and some chassis don’t have accommodations for it so you may have to get the dremel out in some cases.
Thanks. So if no trigger hanger is that more difficult? The trigger is already installed in the barreled action I have.

it's pretty easy in all of the major chassis I've had. Vision, KRG(bravo and W3), MPA, Manners w/ mini chassis...are all drop ins and easy, just tighten the actions screws in the correct sequence and torque and make sure the front once doesn't protrude and hit your bolt face at all. Sometimes different washers are provided depending on the chassis for this reason. mpa has a lock washer set up that works very well I just never could get used to the chassis

No, most dont have a trigger hanger and no hanger is considered "normal".
Not all triggers are equal though and some have wider safety levers, pins etc than other triggers.
Most modern new stuff since 2020 maybe is designed to accommodate it all.

Since the Surgeon has built in recoil lug - then for that chassis you wouldn't use recoil lug clamp or?

You are way overthinking all this. You don’t need a trigger hanger period with your action. Don’t need a recoil lug clamp either. Step one is to find a chassis you want and buy it. Then put your barreled action in the chassis and torque the action screws. Then go shoot.
