I agree with you. I love the aesthetics of this chassis, and it looks like it is in a different class as far as weight is concerned. But, I typically like minimalist designs and am usually on the minority side of opinions on things like this.
Presently, not adding 6 feet of (destined to be vacant) rail to a chassis seems innovative. The hinge location for the folding stock results in a shorter OAL when folded than anything else out there, an innovation.
If I could afford it, I'd love to have one. Being too expensive for my budget has no bearing on the design, which I really appreciate.

My friend Buddy32 is in love with my DTA's monopod. He has been searching high and low for a way to get one in a traditional rifle stock. He doesn't like the accushot. The monopod on the Eberlestock was the best we had seen, again with the exception being the DTA. The Eberlestock has a quick release and fine tune just like the DTA. Great feature. Very light, and I found the whole package very good looking. We too where shocked when Glen told us the price. Was looking like it was a possible sale for Buddy32 until we visited DTA's booth and they beat us to the punch on the Sword chassis with the SRS monopod for $1200 total.
As far as you guys beating up Eberlestock, chill a bit. Flat out they make the best packs in the game. The man operates a true made in the USA outfit, and supports the troops at every turn. If you don't like the stock at least attempt a bit of respect towards the man and the company.

For what its worth:
I handled Glen's chassis at SHOT. He gave me an indepth review of it and I can say that I am very impressed. Honestly, I did not like its appearance in pictures, but in person, it is very sleek and attractive. It reminds me of a stealth fighter jet just a bit: not pretty until you realize its capability. If you want lightweight and minimalist, yet fully adjustable, this set-up will be hard to beat. The quality of it is remarkable, and from a manufacture's stand point, it is beyond reproach and justifies the price. Quality costs money, superior quality costs more. Add to that it is made in the USA, and well, we have standards here that other countries don't.
It may not be for everyone, granted. Neither is every car that rolls of an assembly line all across the globe. If you're happy witha Honda, by God, buy a Honda. If you appreciate something sleek, different and performance focused, maybe the price of the Corvette is not something you consider. Maybe it does not appeal to everyone's eye. It's a chassis. It's purpose is to appeal to our ability to carry the rifle to our target area and deliver the one shot we set afield to deliver. I think it will do just that. I look forward to testing it where it deserves to be tested: afield and on the range.
How many in the 1960s thought the M-16 was the ugliest rifle ever made? Now, in 2012, how attractive is the silhouette of an M-16 or M-4? If we don't evolve and accept new ideas, we would all still be shooting black powder.
I applaude Glen Eberle's inventive spirit and willingness to accept risk to create something new and unique, all out of his own pocket. Its risky, especially in today's economy. He did it anyway. We can all respect that, right?

Who gives a fuck what it looks like? Do you sit around and beat off to your rifles? If it works it works. You're making such a big damn deal about what the thing looks like which when it comes to LR shooting has NOTHING to do with rounds on target... NOTHING.

Who gives a fuck what it looks like? Do you sit around and beat off to your rifles? If it works it works. You're making such a big damn deal about what the thing looks like which when it comes to LR shooting has NOTHING to do with rounds on target... NOTHING.

Lots of people care what their rifles look like. I'm pleased they do as otherwise my business partner couldn't make "Best London Rifles" with glorious wood work, hand finishing and all that time lavished on them. I shoot a fairly bog standard Remington 5R milspec which will out shoot them, but thats not the point.
Just thinking of all those trophy hunters! I only shoot for meat but I wouldn't stop those who want a trophy unless they wasted the by product or at least paid for the conservation. Nearly any half decent rifle will bring home the bacon especially as the range is normally point blank.
I can't think of a folding stock of this weight and simplicity on the market. There are plenty with all the knobs and whistles but all of them weigh in too much and all those catches and things hanging off just catch on everything. For long range shooting you might want the weight but on the open hill carrying around a brick sure spoils your enjoyment. Some stocks you would think you were carrying a GPMG; I've done that and now want something more civilized. Its one stock that might give you half a chance to take a standing shot without a tripod.
Non of us have shot with this stock so its all armchair commentary. From looks alone it looks "right" and I for one am looking forward to getting my hands on one. How many we can sell is another matter. No one is forcing anyone to buy one. Not having one isn't going to put you at a disadvantage.
Lastly, its one chassis that should be quick to wipe down... no nooks and crannies.

I'm interested in the aggressive backsweep of the grip away from the trigger. When comparing it to the near vertical position of the grip on the biathlon stocks I'd like to know why the difference?
Does the former allow for a greater range of positional shooting? It just seems to make the hand stretch. A few photos of both views (left and right) would be very helpful to see how the hand grips and the finger reaches to the trigger.
I think the ability to move the cheek rest and the rail clamp along the frame of the stock is ingenious. For anyone looking to take part in Competition Dynamics 'ironman' style events this would be the stock to have I would imagine.
For light recoiling calibers such as the 6.5Creedmoor this would be a perfect stock. You get the ability to go anywhere and almost shoot anything with the minimal physical discomfort. Time to sell more enterprise class systems so my bonus can cover this stock (plus the wife, the baby, etc...).

Rifles? No... but my shotguns... ahhhhhh... LOL!!
I have to say that Ceylon's pictures do more justice to the looks (if one cares). I don't have much issue with the price, this will be highly crafted and less "mass produced" and for that quality you must pay. With that said, I'm not a tube gun style fan (and believe it or not, I don't like the Viper Skins vs. the "old" style AICS skins).
I will not own this, but I will admire the craftsmanship put into it and will envy the weight of it as I lug around my beast!

I'm just wondering who is going to swing that kind of $$$ for a system like this? I know there are people out there who spend money with out thinking about it, but I don't know any one personally who would want to buy something like this. This chassis costs more than any gun I own. I wonder how many the company is planning to sell?

I really like it. My days of hauling heavy, bulky, complicated 30-plus cal rifles are over. This looks perfect for a small
caliber, fast twist VLD-driver that I can slip into my backpack
and walk away with.

Its a beautiful piece of kit, pricey yes but looks very thought out and trim. If its like the rest of Glens product sure he will move some, its a unique product and I respect the fact its made here in the US of A.

Called today, 4 pounds is the weight if you are wondering.
I made suggestions for rear QD cups and provisions for one up front in absence of the rail.
FN/Winchester versions are supposed to be out later this year and reviewing the option of using the new TBM bottom metal/mags that FN is now using on some models of SPR rifles. These are the 5 and 10 rounds versions seen at Midway.
A side note, when FN releases those separate, they are a direct replacement for the current DBM inlet.

Four pounds is heavy. Especially compared to McMillan's Edge. It is getting harder to defend this product. There do not seem to be any advantages to it...

i think that's the weight of the overal package including box, set of spacers, all bits'n'parts....
I agree with you - A1-3 EDGE weights 850 grams + 100 gramms on Badger M5 DBM - so to be competetive this chassis should weight around 2 lbs 2 oz...

I would like to spend some time with one in the field and get a real feel for it. Give it an unbiased evaluation highlighting the stocks benefits and any drawbacks.

Kinda reminds me of a Porsche GT3 or Lamborghini Superleggera. You get less, but you pay more haha. That said, it has it's place and I'd shoot one but it won't be my first high end chassis purchase; that would go to the Saber Forsst or MSR.

I haven't tried the stock yet, but the packs are AWESOME! I have used them in competition, at work on tough assignments, and hauled out a 375lb ram out of the rough terrain of Alaska.

If the stocks are anything like his packs, you won't be disappointed. Glen also had one of the folders inside one of his packs for urban warfare that was AWESOME!
