Last year I worked up a great 5.56 load. I used once fired LC brass and obviously had to remove the primer crimp. I used a Lyman case prep station and a cutter. It took forever but worked great..........

I have worked with a Dillon swedger and still own one. I had more problems them I care to repeat. Distorted flash holes, loose primer pockets, too much crimp left, etc. I even tried running them by case head and still had a lot of inconsistency.

I also tried another brand that was press mounted, CH4D?, which turned out to be fantastic at ripping the rim off the case........

Which brings me to my question, what is a efficient and accurate way to cut the primer crimp?

I prefer to work in 1k lots and want to find a better way

Thanks

Take an appropriate sized bit with a drill and go at it for a second.

Google led search the appropriate bit I do not know off the top of my head. This is the most efficient and fastest way I know without ruining primer pockets

I had great results with the Dillon super swadger but that was plinking rounds for my AR's. It works great but still occasionally get one with a bit of crimp left. The best method that I've personally used is with my RCBS case prep station on the chamfering part. Works great and very uniform.

RCBS makes several primer crimp cutters. The latest variant cuts an ever so slight dual angle. It literally takes one second to cut the crimp out completely. The trick is to use the slow speed on your cordless drill.
