yup and so far the service as been excellent.
I emailed ~30 dealers in the DFW metroplex(there are supposedly 65 within 100 miles of my zip code according to Ford) a form email stating "I want to order a truck at Invoice, if you are interested in my business please contact me, I would REALLY like to keep my business in Texas. If I can not find a dealer in Texas to work with I will order one from Granger Ford in Iowa at invoice -2%. If you dont think that deal is legit I ask you to research it on ford-trucks.com, blueoval.com, and their own website".
i got about 10 or so responses ranging from "we cant do anywhere close to invoice" to "MSRP" to "MSRP+5k"... I had one dealer tell me they would order at x-plan, which I can get, but they wouldnt put it in writing(x-plan is not applied until time of actual sale), they also wouldnt put in writing that they wouldnt require me to buy a warranty or finance through them. So basically 1 dealer willing to at least attempt to gain my business. The rest couldnt even be bothered to throw me 500 or 1000 bucks off MSRP.
So Ill be flying and driving back from Iowa some time in March I guess.
I talked to a guy the other day that had an F250 with the 7.3 Godzilla. His lifetime average was 12.6 for mostly highway driving at 5 over the posted speed limit. He was absolutely satisfied with its towing abilities.
I really thought about one before my last truck purchase, but ended up getting the F150 with the 3.5 ecoboost. It’s lifetime average over 46,000 miles is 19mpg which is mostly rural to/from work and an occasional long highway trip. My F150 3.5 EB produces only 5 less ft./lb torque than the Godzilla and tows 12,500 lbs which is enough for the occasional load of cows I haul. It was worth the fuel savings for me.
That being said, if I was going to get a 3/4 ton, it would be a 250 with the 7.3 Godzilla.

Ive been driving a 2021 Explorer ST with the 3.0 ecoboost. Fine motor and there are a metric ass load of 3.5's out there.
The 7.3 appeals to me in that its a very basic engine... port injection, cam in block, push rods, etc... And its a REAL big block for fucks sake LOL. The ecoboost motors have A TON OF SHIT that can go wrong with them. They have proven to be pretty good, but damn theres a lot of shit crammed in there and if anything goes wrong labor will eat your ass. I think a turbo change, book value is like 4 hours or something dumb like that.
The F150 really lost me at its pricing though. The way I built and ordered this F350(basically loaded out a Lariat minus sunroof) MSRP was 69,335. To build an F150 Lariat the way I would order it was 69290(again loaded out but no sunroof). Holy christ thats expensive for a 1/2 ton. People say "oh shit the F350 is HUGE compared to an F150" but dimensionally they are damn near the same. Same width(same exact cab), if you order a crew cab 6.5 box they are roughly the same length(6.5" shorter, but 250/350 has 6.75 bed vs. 6.5 bed), F350 is 2" taller than F150(79" vs. 77")... Payload between the two is VASTLY different. Towing between the two is VASTLY different. F150 axles look like tooth picks compared to the super duty axles. They are also semi float vs. full float. So longevity wise the 250/350 is built to a completely different level... for a truck that is damn near the same size as the F150 and "in general" cheaper or about the same, as long as you dont buy the 6.7 diesel. There are tons of guys switching from diesel to the 7.3 and not missing the diesel one bit. The 7.3 and 10spd along with 4.30 gear availability is a game changer for Ford honestly. I wouldnt have even considered a super duty outside of that combo.
And honestly 250's are worthless when a 350 doesnt cost much more and gets you at least 1k extra pounds of payload capacity for no sacrifice anywhere else. I dont know how things will shake out but it seems to me most people ordering trucks right now are stepping up to 350's. You cant hit a 250's max tow ratings and still stay under the payload rating of the trucks in most cases. 350's you can.
There are a lot of guys reporting 15-16mpg unloaded in their 7.3 godzilla trucks. I think a few claiming 17mpg. Im sure they are driving at the speed limit and not hammering it at 75-80mph. I think those are the guys reporting 11mpg unloaded.
Luckily we have a prius in the garage that I drive like an asshole and get 55mpg, so the MPG of this truck doesnt bother me to much.

Temps here are not “below freezing”… they go to well below zero. Folks who leave their EV’s in hotel parking lots get up in the morning to find 40 mile range…. When temps are below zero. Just enough to get them to the First charging station on the Interstate. Which has 2 chargers at a park and ride.
The number of stranded EVs here last winter was epic.
Oh and don’t call 911. Unless your vehicle is blocking the road, on fire or you are having a medical emergency… the police, fire and rescue are not coming to your hotel room to explain physics. Or order the battery to charge faster. Call AAA.

Well, it may start happening in the remainder of my lifetime, but as long as it doesn't become "mandatory" within the remainder of my lifetime (i.e. hoping fossil fuel vehicles are still "available..."). I still don't see how they'll have the technology to be able to miniaturize the batteries enough to be practical and safe (i.e. no explosions or meltdowns) for a standard size car or even a mini vehicle, let alone an "18 Wheeler..." Vehicles that can go the same range and have the same power as a fossil fuel vehicle.
