Going to dabble some in the ELR world and have decided to spin up a 300PRC and a 300NM. We don't have many opportunities where I live so these calibers will meet my needs.

My question is what's the consensus or is there one on primers? I see where some are using LR primers and some are using magnums?

My goal here is like everyone else in making a load with the lowest SDs and ES possible, appreciate the responses.

CCI 200 works best in my 300 PRC. I have also tried 210M and 215M. I recommend you buy small amount of each then try them with your chosen powder and bullet combo.

In testing, I have found a significant variance in quality across the board. I honestly think it greatly depends on Lot #s. I had a Lot# of 215FGMM's that were great, I currently have 4k of the same lot# that are not. If you looked into my primer cabinet you would find Federal - Remington - CCI - Winchester. Ultimately, I weight sort down to .01gr. (i.e. 5.26gr). there certainly are other things you can do if you are so inclined. If all you could get was a CCI, I'd shoot them, I would just weigh sort them and go from there. Primers are deff. a piece of the puzzle that is "consistently low ES" along with Interior H2o capacity, powder charge, and neck tension/seating pressure.

Welcome to the Disease, no cure, therapy group meets for 1-day sessions on Saturday, sometimes Sunday to. Do not waste your time on a vaccine, you are better off quarantining yourself in the reloading room or the distant lane on a firing line away from prying eyes so you can collect and apply data without the risk of infecting others .......

Im getting single digit S-D's with the remington 9 1/2 magnums i picked up from powder valley last month

I use BR2s up to my 300 PRC and 215Ms on larger. If you're shooting in decent temps, you get more latitude on how far up you can go with non-magnum primers.
