Hey guys, I took my brother and a couple of his college buddies out coyote hunting for a few days, when we left the house the first morning it was -11 below on the weather station. It was colder than shit out, but the conditions were perfect for the way we hunt them, calling them up close and personal. There were 3 gunners and I was the cameraman...credit goes to my brother Bo for putting this vid together. Hope you enjoy and Happy Holidays!

Fucking awesome. I'd love to find a place like that sometime. Was that a pup distress or what on the first on?

Pup whines, it's one of our "killer" sounds, use it.

On the triple that came in, the runner was taken at about 100 yards. The third hunt with the double, the first shot was missed at 30 yards so both of those were shot running, ranges were probably 50 and 120. Good shooting considering these guys don't get much time on the gun during the year.

Re: Ever hunt coyotes in temps below ZERO? We DO!

Yup sub zero is some of the best calling times when food is scarce and coyotes are hungry. I was out Christmas calling in
-9 temps, but I just got barked at from behind me in the hills...darn it!

Re: Ever hunt coyotes in temps below ZERO? We DO!

I can't wait to get my fucking can. That's what it's all about, hunting with your buddies and smacking some coyotes. Looks like a great time. Cool video man, thanks for sharing.

Where were you hunting them?</div></div>
South central and south western South Dakota I also have the keys to about 15,000+ in Nebraska<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: 3wide</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Great video!

What calibers you using?</div></div>
My AR is a 243 wssm, the camo rifle is a GAP 243 and the black stainless gun is a 22-250. All great yote calibers.

Thanks for sharing that, I enjoyed it!
Great to see guys out there calling coyotes & havin' a good time...

Re: Ever hunt coyotes in temps below ZERO? We DO!

-14 this morning at daylight. Can't take the cold anymore! It sucks to get old and stoved up so I have to road hunt mostly. Yotes were movin around though as there was no wind. Smacked one at 432 then missed his mate just off her nose at 536, my elbow slipped a bit but had already started 'the squeeze' and it was too late, not much time for a do over at 1# trigger pull. Dumped another later at 436yds. Man them SOB's are wild up here.Everybody and their dog coming in from east river, the Hills and the younger guys now have an electronic call and an itchy trigger finger. Not many 'virgins' by now and they are really road shy!!! No such thing as an under 400 standing shot this year!!!! These are my first since Jan 20, been slim pickins.

Sub-zero here this morning as well.....a look at my calling country. It was a beautiful and very productive day. I hunted from sun up to sun down.....sorry, not allowed to post "work pics".

Re: Ever hunt coyotes in temps below ZERO? We DO!

It was only about 6 degrees this morning, but I took about a 20 mile round trip in the open cab RZR for shits and giggles lol

Re: Ever hunt coyotes in temps below ZERO? We DO!

PGS-Alot of people wouldn't find any 'beauty' in that pic! No trees, no cars, no houses, no Walmart, no gangs, no street lights, no hookers or crack ho's and of course NO PEOPLE!!!

Super pic, love the MT blue sky and distance to horizon and of course the Border Patrol pickup parked just to the left of the knob at 2:00 below the horizon, about 500yds right of the male coyote with a bit of mange on his tail!

You find beauty with the open country like I do. Looks like the landscape southeast of town here. Great pic!

Re: Ever hunt coyotes in temps below ZERO? We DO!

Love the video, my buddy and I need to get off our asses and get some footage done. We got 8" of snow and about single digit temps in the day. Been calling a few nights and had plenty on top of us but too dark to see.

Re: Ever hunt coyotes in temps below ZERO? We DO!

Thanks for posting. What caller are you guys using? Gotta love those cold temps and early calls!
Just what I didn't need to watch just before heading to Vegas for a week!
Reminds me of a guy I know that carries a very large treble hook on a long rope to get dogs off thin ice.

Re: Ever hunt coyotes in temps below ZERO? We DO!

Sub Zero . But it's a Dry Cold ....

Good job of your followup shots .

Don't get that cold here on the West side & Other night I was bitching about having to do a stand in low 20 deg. dark & frosty here in OR. .... LOLhaha
.

Re: Ever hunt coyotes in temps below ZERO? UPDATE!

Well, we got out for another day of SUB ZERO temps, this time the FEELS LIKE temp on weather.com read -14 when I left the house which isn't too bad, were used to it by now Ha! Hide user Blackrifleops is my gunner on this day and we only get half a day in but it wasn't short on action. We get to one of our cat spots hoping to bring in one of the bobtails and look what shows up! A herd of 12 bulls entertains us for about a half hour.

The 2 biggest bulls, one on the right has some non-typ in him

Fortunately for #2 I went full on retard and missed a 120 yard chip shot. Don't worry I went ahead and slapped myself in the face with and open hand lol! I had a nasty taste in my mouth for the next hour after the miss...until the double we called in and blackrifleops went ahead and disposed of both of them in short order...very quietly I might add with his suppressed 223. Anyway we were out of time but ended the day on a high note, it's been a cold bitch in South Dakota the last few weeks but it makes for some great coyote calling and we've been putting a beat down on them. Sorry no hero shots of the days kill, we forgot! Til next time!

If we kill good fur it goes to a buyer, which contibutes to the hunt/gun fund!

Re: Ever hunt coyotes in temps below ZERO? UPDATE!

Don't them 'closeup misses' suck???? I always tell people I don't brag much about those nice long 1 shot kills cause then I have to think about the 'chip shots' that I missed and have no good reason for except 'pilot error'!!!!

Nice pics and most cannot consider -14 as being just on the cool side!LOL
