Evidently, We Have Failed To Educate Our Children

Here's a graphic from a new study, indicating a deepening ignorance among young Americans of differences between the major world sociopolitical systems:

I know nothing about the authors of the study, nor about those who commissioned it, nor specifics about its methodology, but its implications are sobering.

58% of Millenials would prefer Socialism, Communism, or Fascism, as an apparent result of their woefully inadequate understanding of these systems, or their histories.

We have failed to pass the lessons of history on to our youth, in large part, I imagine, because those to whom we entrusted their education have been filling their ears with shit for years.

I suppose this is why we find ourselves contemplating the possibility of massive social upheaval before the day is out.

I urge restraint until there is no other option but defense of one's self and the Constitution.

We can thank our colleges for that fun fact. The professors teach these kids that they are all victims of the system injustice and that a college degree should get you anything you want. As I explained to the Purdue engineering group one day as a speaker.....you still have to work and earn your way in society. This apparently was a perplexing statement to them that was not something the administrators wanted to hear. Who knew you actually have to work for a living???lol Dumbasses!

Right there, in the bottom right hand corner of that 'graph' is the true issue. Someone asked about how they "FEEL".

Their feelings are irrelevant, and inconsequential. The real world needs to wake them up, in one way or another. The rest of us, as adults, are concerned about "who's going to look after us long after we retire, and are loosing some of our abilities"? Whereas these millennials, they're concerned about "who's going to look after them, IF they move out of mommy's basement?"

I'm afraid that a rude awakening is in order. History, in one form or another, is going to repeat itself. Some are expecting, others will be "absolutely surprised and affected directly without warning."

Our education system is non existent.

I have kids in the local grade school. I live in the northeast where our education systems are supposedly considered elite. For my state I live in a town that is supposedly considered one of the better financed and capable programs.

Its designed to keep the parents confused about what is going on.

There are no textbooks to reference and the methods that parents learned for problem solving are no longer acceptable.

I have little doubt that common core vastly accelerated programs of destruction that have been being implemented for 40 or more years.

In another ten years those pie charts will be showing capitalist as the less than 10% minority if things don't change.

What the young lack is real world knowledge and understanding that they will be used and socialism only provides for the select few at the sacrifice of the masses. By the time they figure it out its too late.

If our education system still made Orwell, Huxley and other writers of the dystopian socialist genre required reading those graphs would not be so alarming.

And therein lies the problem....many who believe in the socialist ideal have failed to distinguish "wants" from "needs".....not unlike the left's inexplicable ability to distinguish what is a "right". Way too many want what others have without the requirement to earn it and believe those things are "rights.

The whole concept of socialism denies human nature.

Human nature has its good aspects as well as its bad.

Socialism places all the emphasis on the "good" of human nature.

The first breakdown of that concept usually occurs at the leadership level when the leaders exercise the bad aspect of human nature and determines to kill anyone that disagrees with them or challenges their control of the revolution.

The value of our Constitution is that it is based on the solid understanding of human nature and while promoting the good it restrains the bad.

Aesop told us what to expect.

The Founding Fathers built a system to benefit the favorable expectations while taming the bad.

None of this really surprises me at all. However, most comments are focused on the failure of the educational system to teach kids right from wrong. I do not believe that this is the root cause of the problem at all. It may be a contributing factor but educational thought has never been right wing and pro-constitution.

I went to college in 1979-83 and then graduate school from 1983-1985. Liberal, anti-right sentiment permeated both. Maybe not as vocal as it is today but still very present. When I was a sophomore, I took a course called power in contemporary society. It sounded interesting and fulfilled my core requirements in sociology. The course was taught by a self professed communist who told us that right wing thinkers would have a problem getting a passing grade. Obviously, I dropped it and complained but it did no good. I can't tell you how many communist groups paraded around asking for signatures on petitions. Friends I had that went to other schools not in the Northeast shared similar sentiments. The difference was we weren't afraid to confront them with our beliefs. Sometimes it was peaceful debate and other times it wasn't. The educational system really hasn't changed much. One side (the left) has just got emboldened and the right has lost its spine to debate. It doesn't have to get physical but most aren't even willing to verbally confront these idiots for the fear of being labelled a racist. Fuck them. Most don't even know the definition of a racist versus a bigot which is really what they are calling you.

IMHO the root cause is the demise of the family construct in today's society. Parents have largely relegated the upbringing of their children to others. Daycare is much more so the rule than the exception. Daycare is a must for some. I get it. However, I can't tell you how many people who can afford to keep a parent at home aren't willing to give up some creature comforts so they could bring up there own children with THEIR beliefs. Hard to teach beliefs, morals and proper behavior when children are teenagers. It is far too late. Families seldom eat together anymore and share stories around the table as it takes time from the internet and video games. Parents are simply more interested in being their child's FRIEND than their PARENT. This abandonment of responsibility permeates our society. Same issue with gun control. Listen to these fools and it is easy to see why anti-gunners are the way they are. It is nothing more than the belief that protecting myself is NOT MY JOB. It is the police's or government's job. And if no-one has a gun; I am safe and won't have to protect myself.

I know lots of right minded, well behaved and respectful kids and the common denominator is a strong sense and respect of their family. As was said, beliefs generally change over time so I am not really hung up on what they believe when they are in college. You can be a liberal and not be a part of the scum that is ANTIFA and the like.

Not quite as rare as unicorns but close. Socialism and communism are great in THEORY... but like someone above said, once you add that human element it all goes to shit. Most of the freeloaders have been taugh that they deserve stuff and don't have to work for any of it because the people that were taught to work for things they want have more that the freeloads say they need. If everyone one busted their ass at what they were good at and there was no greed for power, money and all kinds of other stuff then there wouldn't be a problem.

Women’s Lib in the 1960’s and 1970’s was about creating 2 household earners to service debt, and about turning over children to some form of the State for periods of up to 10 hours of their waking day.

The Education System is not failing at what it is designed to do.
