Rifle Scopes falcon scopes

Re: falcon scopes

I have one, I like it.

Remove the turret caps, clean the heavy grease off the oring and inside the cap. Lubricate with silicone spray lube. NOT WD-40 or penetrating oil.

Re: falcon scopes

It was the first affordable Mil/Mil FFP scope to come on the market. They had their share of issues along the way. The 4-14 model you mentioned was probably the best one they made. Since then the market has become flooded with affordable quality Mil/Mil FFP offerings with better support than the Falcon.

Look around and compare.

Re: falcon scopes

I have owned one for a year or so, ran it in a handful of tactical matches up until it was replaced very recently. It has performed well with only one catastrophic failure, turn around time was good(6 weeks) and I was sent a new replacement scope. I still have the Falcon 4-14 on top of a 20" DMR AR15, it is a decent piece of glass for a good price. My main complaint is the magnification ring, it is VERY difficult to turn, as well as the turrets which can be resolved as fdkay mentioned.

Just remember, cheap and inexpensive are two different things, the Falcon is a inexpensive scope that has some nice features for the money, but as RADcustom mentioned ^^^, there are a lot of other choices now with similar features in the same price range.

Re: falcon scopes

A few years ago I was brand new to the sport and the Falcon 4-14 seemed to be a good choice for the entry level price tag. It started me off right with a mil/mil FFP setup and got me on paper out to 1000. I think of it as a really good training tool and have suggested it to friends getting into the sport that can't justify the high dollar options for that combination of features. There are some others that are worth looking at now but I have no regrets with the Falcon after about 1500 rounds on top of an ltr before it was upgraded. I had some minor issues with tracking, occasionally after a run out to 500+ I would be off my zero by 1/10th or so. For the time being I am only a casual shooter and that was acceptable. For some that would be a deal breaker I'm sure.
