So here's the scoop...I've had a Super Sniper 10X42 with Ken Farrell rings mounted on my 10FP. Now, thanks to Scott at Liberty Optics, I am a proud owner of the Weaver Tactical 3-15x50. When I placed the Weaver into the Farrell bottom rings, it doesn't fully seat, ie there's airspace between the ring and the bottom of the scope (the SS seats fine). I assume there's a tolerance issue between the rings and the scope body and that when tightening the rings, it may correct itself, however, I don't want to risk damaging the scope. Any suggestions?

Measure the OD of the Weaver tube and the OD of the SS tube. Sounds like one isn't the right OD and I have a feeling it's the Weaver.

Both measure pretty close to the same...30.2394mm, using circumference / Pi to get diameter.

Edit: After posting this, I decided to place my SS on the rings in a different place than originally mounted and it's a much tighter fit than in it's original mounting position. Is it plausible to have a small air gap?

I've never seen it myself in all the rings I've used (about 10 different types). That's weird, sounds like the sides are too tight on the rings. Maybe some lapping will sort them out...

Just curious...
How did you measure the circumference to ten thousandths of a millimeter?

If your measurement is correct, .24mm is enough to make a difference....

I didn't...95mm / 3.14159265358979323846

Re: Farrell Scope Ring Issue w/ Weaver Tactical Scope

My Weaver 4-20 tube is a couple thousandths oversized. That's definitely enough to cause issue with some rings. You should be able to lap the rings up a bit to fit. If you do, be sure to chamfer the corners of both top and bottom of the rings.
