"Hounding" as you put it is just asking through official means, a subpoena. It happens all the time throughout the justice system during investigations. The private entity is fighting the subpoena from the executive branch via the judicial branch. Executive vs judicial = check and balance. This is how the constitutional balance of power is supposed to work.

Would you rather LE not go though the legal pathways? Obtain Fraudulently warrants? Or stop investigations altogether just because it might hurt some feelings?

Like I said. We agree. I don't like the reality we are in right now. Part of me is very happy all this stuff about law enforcement is coming out. After several courses in search & seizure as well as the 10.75 years wearing the badge I've been telling people the following for years, even while I was a cop:

I don't think anything can be changed until the wheel of time turns, but when the time comes that the hard men put their shoulders to the wheel to bring back the good times, perhaps those that survive can rebuild things learning the lessons from how the blindly utopian ideas of others failed miserably.

In my opinion, one of the biggest problems is that the citizens from the outset were happy to be lazy and pay / designate somebody else to manage everything. Then those that they paid or designated to do everything eventually became the masters. Perhaps in the next go around it might be worth considering that the citizens are not allowed to delegate away their agency and instead must each and every one be directly involved in deciding what rules must or must not be made and also be tasked with being directly involved in enforcing laws and directly dealing with consequences and reparations.

Much like the idea put forward in one of Heinlien's short stories, where the ability of the politicians to make war or things like war was removed completely, except for a small standing army to protect the country from sudden attack on it's own soil exclusively. For any and all other actions, the entire public of military service age was made to vote (and only those of that age could vote in such a situation) Yes, No, or Abstain. If the vote was passed yes, those that voted Yes, were expected to show up at their local designated bases to report for duty, if more troops were needed later, those that voted Abstain would next have to report and finally if things were really off the rails, those who voted No would have to also join if more than the first two groups was needed.

There are many other ideas that I think would help prevent us getting where we are now, but perhaps the fundamentals of not being allowed to delegate your agency and responsibility. In addition to not being allowed to infringe on anyone else's individual liberty and choices unless their choices can be directly proven to be causing you or your property harm would be a great start.

This is a huge issue that cuts right to the heart of most of the problems in this country. Often, it has become one or the other. While a healthy skepticism toward government is certainly warranted, to assume anybody who collects a government paycheck is shit is absurd. You are correct with your statement on this.
I think, jmho, we have lost faith in our judicial process. With all that has went on and the abuses we have seen/witnessed, anytime some entity mentions a warrant/subpoena, we jump to the conclusion that it's being used nefariously, or to cause some kind of harm to someone.
The .Gov did this to us, where we have lost some/most, faith in our system.
I'm still maintaining faith in our L.E. agencies. I don't want to give up on my Country.

The reception guy at the jail grabs him and shoved him into another room and tossed him to the floor. He kicked and punched the guy that never resisted. He beat the guy for several minutes. The officers then strapped him to a chair. They didn't get the guy first aid for over an hour. Once strapped to the chair the officers all had a good laugh.
Results..... Not a single officer, there were around 7 that witnessed this beating, did anything to help or stop the beating. The two arresting officers got 30 days without pay and the guy that did the beating got a couple months in jail.
Who were the bad guys there? The only one doing the beating? Or every POS that stood by and didn't do anything? Blue Line.
