You might be forgetting how brutally and totally the north imposed it's will on the south after the war. They worked very hard to do just what you say they should have done.

It was actually that hard handed attempt to wipe out everything that you advocate should have happened that caused the rise of a lot of groups in the first place.

The northerners were just as racist as the southerners, they just had a better system, the northern wealthy used them as disposable contract labor they could hire and fire at will & pay starvation wages. You can read Lincoln's writings and he clearly states that while he thinks (as did any real thinkers and intelligent people in that day), that Slavery was evil & vile & should be eliminated, he also clearly believed in the superiority of his race and their right to rule.

The civil war was fought over other more basic matters of who controls ones destiny & the whole slavery thing was thrown in.
The mixing of the civil war and the end of slavery is what set race relations to be constantly a sore point.
If the civil war had not happened, most likely slavery would have ended about 10 to 20 years later as it was an evil that was finally dying out across the whole civilized world. In most countries where it was abolished peacefully, while there are still issues, there is not nearly as much passion about it as here. The fact that the ending of it got mixed up in a horribly brutal war where the winners did things even they admitted were beyond the pale & the loosers always felt they were in the right but didn't have the immigrant numbers to provide enough cannon fodder, makes for endless acrimony.

But what really makes the issue is the constant propaganda and hate bating that has gone on for years in this country on purpose. Without those influences the whole idea of race problems would die out.

What I am 'hoping' is that Sessions is a very old-fashioned type prosecutor/AG... who holds his cards close to his vest, ensures there are NO leaks of any kind... and quietly and diligently works through the case until it's time to go public. And by that time, the case is rock solid.

We know that there is an investigation into Hillary going on. But nary a leak. We know that the IG's report is in process and going to be damning... And timed right for summer viewing pleasure...

Perhaps the 'lack of handing over' the documents to the House Committee... is not aimed at covering for the Swamp. But keeping them out of the hands of the Democrats on the Committee? Because you know that those weasels will leak, destroy, obfuscate, etc.
