As a climber for Asplundh in my youth, it was getting sucked into the wood chipper.

Apparently it had happened…..

an alumnus from my brother's HS class (1994) went out that way. Other guys on the crew heard the chipper RPMs choke down towards idle and looked over and saw a red mist exit the chute. Speculation was that he had been forcing a large "branch" into it and got entangled. They carried away 2 or more body bags of blood soaked wood chips

My brother just reminded me of his name. Poor kid; he would have been about 21 years old:

I always thought they smelled like rotten eggs and sulfur.

You'd be correct (some kind of slow burn gun powder??). The times escape me. Been retired since '98, and from 135's since 1993.
