I totally agree, but I don’t think that is the way most of them of “represent”. How many times have we voted for people who then get to the position only to flip, or go way extreme compared to what they said they believed during the election. Far too many of them are not truthful with their beliefs and their goal is just to get elected so they can then impose their own true beliefs. The un-informed &/or bipartisan electorate that vote based on party or single issue are part of the problem, but the goal of our government didn’t used to be “get elected one way, govern another, because I know better than the people who vote”. But again, the problem is term limits and the electorate voting for people they don’t really agree with, but are still better than the other side, because that’s how we end up with the same old people again and again even though only 10% of the electorate approve of the job of said Representative. Another part of the problem is the “weaponization” of everything and a media whose job has become profit and ratings rather than truth, fact and in-biased views of both sides. Which again, is partly our fault because when asked only 10% of people believe the “media” yet they still tune in
