Hi. Just thought I would introduce my self I have been shooting for a few years now using my fathers rifles and I am a competitive pistol shooter. I just purchased my first rifle. An A-bolt browning with synthetic stock (which I dont really like but there isnt really any option to change it in australia without paying more that what it would cost to get a different rifle) and medium weight varmint barrel, chambered in 223. WSSM. I was going to save and have a 22-250 custom built but this came along almost unfired for very little money. It came with leupold rings and bases and an Olivon 6-24by56 scope that really sucks. Now the questions start. In terms of accuracy is it worth removing the leupold rings and going to a picitiny rail or bridge mount and which would you consider the best for accuracy. Also do you think there would be any gains by welding in a floor plate converting it to single shot as it shouldnt be much work and I wont be using the 2 shot mag anyway.
