Can someone tell me in steps what I have to do in order to buy a can for my FN SPR Rifle 20inch barrel,and which maker and model would work best for me.
Do I send in for the stamp first or do I buy a can first?

Your FFL/SOP will walk the you it.
Buy, then Form 4/Tax, then wait.
The can you can't generate fed paper with a specifically serial number.

The FIRST step is to decide what you want. We get this all the time, at least have your choice narrowed down to two maybe three brands and/or models.
That speeds things up a bunch.

Figure out the can you want. I like the thunderbeast and AAC. Thunderbeast is still offering the group buy discount, so get in on that if you can.

Go to your dealer, pick out the can you want and purchase it with the dealer.
Dealer will hold the can and give you paper work.
Take the paperwork, send it in with a $200 check
Wait for phone call from the dealer to let you know that your paperwork cleared BATFE.
Go pick up your can.

Your dealer / FFL should walk you through every step. It is not difficult.

If you don't have a dealer to deal with, I recommend Houston Armory. They have taken good care of me and will walk you right through the process. They even provide paperwork with a list of steps and a checklist to make sure that you are getting everything done correctly.

But it is 1000000x more beneficial to actually hear them in person if you can find a dealer that does demos.

The DB numbers can be deceiving, and there are many more advantages/disadvantages to weigh than just sound reduction.

Can someone please explain what setting up a trust has to do with
suppressors ?

If you set up a trust or an LLC then you dont have to send in fingrprints and have the local police sign each form when you buy one. You skip all the red tape and just buy it in the trust name or LLC name its alot easier I am in the process of setting up my LLC as we speak. My freind has bought several suppressors through his LLC without any trouble or red tape.

I've seen the "purchase" part come as the very last step, but I imagine it differs from dealer to dealer.

First step is narrow down your options to a few favorites, then find a good dealer, and said dealer should pretty well walk you through the rest.
