I shot one today for the first time.
Here is my .02
1. The grip is long. It makes for an odd feeling in the hand. Makes sense though, the round is longer than most handgun rounds.
2. The plastic is aggressive on the hand.
3. Larger than expected fireball.
4. Very snappy.
I came away thinking it wasn't for me. Cool round. Even cooler if you have a p90. I however, do not, so it wasn't for me. I can check that off the "to shoot" list now though.

Wanted one for quite a while, then bought one, shot it and sold it.
It's a cool gun, but big for what it shoots and not really practical for much of anything.

They are a rip off. I was going to get one, but not for the price of 2 glocks. Don't know why FN feels the need to overprice them.

The German SPECOP SOldier I spoke with loved his PDW in 5.7 but of course his had a really cool feature with all these little bullets lined up by this lever thingy

I am just getting into the 5.7 craze myself. I wonder, has anybody in here shot the 5.7 AR upper and also the PS90? How was the comparison? I want the PS90 but hey the AR upper and picking up a lower would save some money in the end.

Impressions of the weapon:
Recoil was close to non existent.
You will definitely see a big fireball at the end of your gun.
Grip felt thin width wise... but long fore and aft wise.
Ammo is a bit expensive.
Sights on the weapon were a bit on the large side.
Overall enjoyed the experience, but I will stick with my Springfield XDM .40

Bought one and put a light/laser combo on it for my wife as a bedside gun. She loves it. Check out Elite Ammuntion for some very good 5.7 loads. Hers is full of their Protector loads. Perfect home defense pistol for her...lots of rounds...no recoil...with the right loads it has good stopping power without the risk of going through multiple walls and killin the kids.

Expensive to buy, expensive to shoot, but if you don't mind spending the money, it's a great handgun! The accuracy and the lack of notable recoil is what sold me. It's a real pleasure to shoot!

Anybody seen any of the Five Seven pistols on any classifieds for a good price? Been running all over looking for a used one to grab up but keep falling short.

I have both Five-seveN and PS90. They are a hoot to shoot! Superb accuracy with both weapons. Ammo is not that unreasonable - you can find the SS197SR (40gr V-Max) for ~ $18/box (50 rds); SS195 is ~ $22. Regarding flash, it is a rifle round - lots of powder burning beyond the almost 5" barrel. I personally like the grip texture, angle, and size. Typical Belgium, it does have a magazine safety (bummer), which is easily disabled without much trouble.
I look at these as investments - picked them up before they were popular. It's interesting they are maintaining value. You don't find "deals" on either one - new or used unless seller is in a bind.

Sounds good. I will likely pick up the 5.7 AR upper down the road just to add to the collection. Just cut a pretty good deal on a used PS90 and cannot wait to get it and take it out to play. Now if I can find a good deal on a used Five Seven pistol I will be the happiest kid on the block.

Got my PS90 and my Five-Seven both bought. Havent gotten to shoot the 90 yet but the pistol was pretty fun. Any recommends on a good place to look at holsters for the pistol? I would like to find a tac thigh holster that would hold the gun light bearing.

Midway has had PTG bolt bodies and short-chambered Shilen barrels to convert a Remington 700 to 5.7x28....not sure if they still do. An easy way to it but not a bolt would be a Thompson Encore.

Yeah the ammo can get costly but with the going prices of most rifle and pistol ammo it really is'nt a big difference to most calibers in cost. I have a buddy of mine looking into reloading the stuff but we will have to see if it is worth it.

I sold mine for an investement. But as i knew i would, and i still do, i miss it. It is a lil cheap feeling, and overpriced but i do plan to get another one.

Friend of mine witnessed the capabilities of the FN 5.7. With restricted ammo it would fire straight through something like 4 layers of denim, level 3 body armor and then through 24" of ballistic jell and still leave a pretty good dent in the metal backstop behind the jell. As a cop he hopes to never see the business end of one. These things do have a purpose. No other pistol in it's size class can do what it does.

I don't own one, but I probably wouldn't buy one either. The good ammo is banned and it's all expensive.

Elite Ammunition makes some very good loads that are far better than the regular ammo sold.

Metered a 5.7 and silencer combo this weekend, including 2 different FN ammunition and Elite ammo on this combo.
I was left impressed with the suppression, lack of any recoil/muzzle rise,capacity.
Ammo cost is the biggest hurdle IMHO.But if money is no object, buy one.

I enjoy mine. I don't carry it anymore since I switched to the reserves, but it's extremely accurate, not a lot of recoil and there are a lot of bullets. I think that it is hampered by the ammo available to the general public. My defense load was SS192 and I practice with SS198LF. Mine sticks around because it's interesting and if I believe I'm going to be engaging adversaries with body armor, it will allow my backup weapon to penetrate.

I believe FN is haveing a promo for veterans this year. You recieve $200 cash back on a five seven. You can't buy a used one for that.

Don't own one, but borrowed one for a few range trips. Overall, I thought it was a nice gun. Since the rounds are smaller than your standard handgun round, it fit a number more in the mag and wasn't terribly heavy. The recoil was fairly minimal. I can't think of anything off hand that I really disliked about it, sorry.
Though I will say that five seven rounds are expensive (again, compared to your standard handgun ammo). Really not alot in the "plinking" range.

It would make for a fun range toy but don't go for it if you plan on using it for anything serious like SD.
The shortcomings of this round are well known by now, despite some creative advertising by some small ammo companies looking to make a few bucks.

Friend has one and likes to shoot it, but feels it doesnt have a specific purpose. I think an SBR platform for the round would be killer. 5.7 SBR upper on a reg. lower, now you got something.

Yeah I already changed my plan after holding a Kimber pro carry II, thats what im gonna get.

I had one for about a year, I liked the accuracy, capacity, and the features of the pistol. Just did not think it had enough knock down power. It is just a 22 mag with better constructed bullets. Buy the new kel-tek 22 mag and save some money if you like the low recoil to plink with. JAA

I have no problem with recoil, I want something that packs a punch and the 1911 platform fits me well so im gonna go with that.

+1 .45 is about the same price but packs a way better punch.
