I don't really support this caliber, but think again about the .22mag comparison. 5.7 compares to .22mag in a RIFLE. Cut a foot or more off the barrel, and .22 mag is a lot more like .22LR high/hyper velocity in a rifle, 1300-1400fps, NOT 2000.

FWIW, you cannot legally load the Barnes banded solid in the 5.7x28 if the round is to be used in the Five-Seven pistol. I just felt it was prudent to mention since the pistol is the original firearm mentioned by the OP. Copper solids are okay but not brass. Doesn't make sense to me but it was what was stated by the ATF to a bullet maker I was in contact with about brass solids for the .500 S&W Magnum.

It's not the 20 rounds of AR power in a Glock-sized package that some thought it was going to be. The neutered civie ammo takes away the one key attribute that justifies the the pistol in the first place; thus, making it an expensive version of this:

I don't know if it is true, but I heard stories of SWAT team outfitted with P90/five-seven combo getting into a shootout with a barricaded subject. The suspect was shot multiple times, but eventually surrendered before saying: "Please stop shooting me."

Again, don't know if it's true, but plausible and humorous none the less.
