Desantis is vying for a Cabinet position now, hence the devout endorsement of Trump. Given his prior service I could even see him as high as SecDef, but more likely one of the lower spots like Pete Buttgrabber got for his fledgling run followed by dropout and Biden endorsement. I'd be surprised if he finishes out his full second term, especially with a good Lt Gov waiting in the wings who would need some better name recognition from public exposure for the next Gov race in '26.

It’s possible that DeSantis recognizes that his chances of success vs Trump are low. But if he concedes, he basically destroys Haley’s chances of using democrats to win anything and gaining any momentum. Plus it ingratiates himself with Trump.
